Tail Gate Assist Info

GM offers a tail gate assist that helps in lowering/raising truck tailgates for their newer trucks. Does anyone know of a supplier for kits to retrofit the tailgate of my truck. My truck is an 07 GMC Sierra Classic W/T. A search for the kit has been unproductive.

You can buy all of the parts through GM, I tried this on my 08. There are quite a few parts that you have to buy, they are not cheap, and there is one piece that holds the rod that goes the length of the tail gate that I could never figure out. The problem with that body style compared to the new generation is that there is no access panel to get to the guts of the tailgate. I would go with the Dee Zee as the above post suggests, have used on prior trucks, including the 08, and they work pretty good.

I installed the Dee Zee 43100 on my 16, RCSB and it works Great for aftermarket gas tube and easy to mount..

Very handy...

When you put the blind bolt in, was there something it screwed into? The one I got seemed smaller than the hole and didn’t do to anything to secure it.
