DEF Service Bulletin

Recommended Posts

While some newer bulletins might be hard to obtain without the help of an insider that works at a GM dealer... It might help someone else here to know the type of issue you're looking for in regards to bulletins as there is a chance that they may have been through that particular ordeal already.

Is it more or less regarding a recent topic titled 2017 Duramax Recommends Using Only GM DEF to Avoid Problems, http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/204142-2017-duramax-recommends-using-only-gm-def-to-avoid-problems/

A search online under 2017 L5P Duramax service bulletins shows a DEF Tank Bracket Rattle that needs tightening, https://gm.oemdtc.com/tag/diesel-exhaust-fluid-tank

You might be able to get more/other type info inside the following website but it looks to be a pay site, https://www.repairprocedures.com/bulletins/document/pip5439a/4845627.html

There is a guy that's been posting some bulletins as they tend to come out for the new 2017 L5P Duramax engines.... http://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/l5p-tsb-service-bulletins-recalls-updates/

Condition

Certain 2017 model year Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD vehicles may have an under-torqued fastener on the upper attachment point of the front diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank bracket. If this fastener is loose it may cause a rattle, and over time, it could cause the lower fastener and rear fasteners to loosen.

Correction Torque the DEF tank bracket nuts to specification.

I did some digging and posted some info on one of the two threads that were created by the guy who did this one: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/204142-2017-duramax-recommends-using-only-gm-def-to-avoid-problems/

This was my post in the other thread he made: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/204143-2017-duramax-recommends-using-only-gm-def-to-avoid-problems/?p=2022380
