How did you reinstall the new hooks without removing the bumper?

I cut my bolts for a bull bar and want to reinstall my tow hooks but see no other way other than removing the bumper.

Just pushed the new hooks back in.  There is a plastic piece with a notch in it and a piece of foam.  Didn't have to remove bumper at all.

Anyway you can tell me the stats on the bolt head to install the hooks?  I'd like to pick up two from HD (my truck is a 2WD) since I'm buying my recovery hooks on CL.

18mm hex head bolt.  You should get 2 per hook if bought new.

I was wondering more about the bolts, the long bolt that goes through the tow hooks, ( the one you had to cut to remove the hooks) how’d you get that bad boy reinstalled?

Just turn it around  and come in the other way.   I believe from the factory the bolt head is facing inboard.  Just turn the bolt and come in from the outboard side and put the nut on the inboard side.

@ChevyRoofer and @Waterfowler41

I'll be sending you your refund tonight WaterFowler so that you don't have to spend money on me shipping them to you unless you'd still like that. That is up to you.

The bolts you're looking for are class 10.9 bolts.

M12x1.75.

2x 110mm bolts

2x 50mm bolts

2x m12x1.75 nuts.

You can find the bolts here.

Either a 45 or 50 will work. Hell a 40mm will work as well. The 100 should work as well instead of a 110mm.

Trying to thread the nut however seems like its some sort of locknut. It doesn't have any insert though but I would suggest you get a locknut and a washer or just the flanged nut and some threadlocker.

Locknut here

https://www.mcmaster.com/#hex-locknuts/=1a6sa3x

The flanged locknuts are available here.

https://www.mcmaster.com/#hex-locknuts/=1a6sar4

All of these look like they want you to buy quite a few to get the couple you need.

Of course you can always source these from your local hardware store although I couldn't find any class 10 flanged locknuts at my Lowes.

I'm sorry, but at 500 bucks for a set of tow hooks, that is insane. You can get the red ones from GM for 100 bucks or the black for 50. That price is way too rich for my blood.

Just now saw the GM chrome hooks for $120 on ebay...

I have a 18 Silverado 1500 and cannot find the actual chevy tow hook or specific instructions to install one. It does not have the cut outs yet

Welcome to the site. Can you post a picture of the front of your truck? Did not realize there was model without tow hooks on it from the factory.
