Flowmaster vs slp

Recommended Posts

Hey guy simply question which do you all prefer, looking to add either a super 44 or slp loudmouth1 muffler in place of my stock one keeping the resonator don't want anything super loud and drone but l like the loudmouth tone on my camaro flowmaster has always been a hit and miss with me I love them on start up but upper rpm deceleration not so much I can't find anything on a loudmouth on YouTube either. Thanks everyone and I apologize if it's been ask before still new to the forums here.

I had a Super 44 single in/dual out to the tips behind the rear tire at 45° on my '14 and it was the best sounding truck I've ever had. Cold starts were awesome and still allowed you to listen to music. With the windows down I don't think I ever put the radio above 1/2 and with the windows up I had it roughly at 1/3.

Not sure how set you are on those two brands but I really liked how the Spintech 6000, and Black Widow Venom 250 sounds on these trucks as well. Keep in mind I did the resonator delete. With the resonator I think both of these brands would sound good as well. The Spintech is aluminized but the Venom is stainless steel. Other options with the Black Widow brand would be the Widowmaker(similar to the SLP) and I see a lot of guys running the Race Venom as well.

  • I had two SLP Loudmouth bullet style mufflers on my 06 GTO, it was well. LOUD. Real nasty snarl scream when you stomped on it. Very different from that traditional flowmaster sound

now on a truck.....I think the SLP Loudmouth wouldn't be the right sound. IMO

I had the full Slp exhaust on my 2015 5.3L and loved the sound! Great idle, deep, not super raspy. Not too much drone (though there was some). Honestly I would I kept that system for my new truck (6.2l) if they didn't cheap out and keep both kits 3" for a cat back.

Have you considered a mbrp system? Play the cards right (20% off auto anything) and you could be in it for about 430 shipped. I have yet to install mine, but after figuring 140 for a magnaflow, 60 to cut and weld, and possibly 60 more if it wasn't deep enough and I wanted the resonator cut off (for a total of almost 300), I could get a full system for close that.

Now if this is too loud (baby coming) I can go back and cut the stock exhaust.

Thanks everyone for the replies it's really a hard decision lol I like that black widow too, like I said I have slp on my Camaro and like it but it's loud, might be the long tube headers though. Iike the flowmaster 44 when it starts up just don't know how if I will like the sound on deceleration I have no experience with with exhaust on these trucks my previous truck (Nissan Titan) had a flowmaster 40 then true dual borla xr1s dumped and it droned horribly and still DOHC motor sounded blah, but that was my teenage years lol. Keep the opinions and videos coming guys.

The Super 44 on my '14 5.3 sounded really good at deceleration. It sounded good at any RPM. Basically as long as the truck was running it sounded awesome.

I personally wouldn't buy an actual kit, just cost too much. I had a shop good with exhaust and truck accessories build it the way I wanted. Cost less than half the price of a pre-made kit and I got exactly what I wanted. I'm really picky so I wouldn't want to just settle for a kit if it's not exactly what I wanted.

That's kinda what I'm thinking is just a muffler instead of a kit just because of the cost not saying it isn't worth it to those who have one just I believe I can get what I'm looking for from a simple muffler swap, I like to know when my truck is running lol
