That’s ridiculous. Modern engines are way way more reliable than older engines.

Hell even supercar engines are way more reliable than they were in the 90’s.

Once motors moved past babbitt bearings and full pressure oiling reliability has remained about the same when used and serviced reasonably. I've heard this argument rage for 50 years and my observations are unchanged. Guys use to whine about the short lifespan of a Ford Y block. Other guys who knew the oil feed lines to the rocker area plugged provided exterior oiling and they ran as long as anything today. Anybody surpass the rugged reliable service of a Ford 300 I6 yet?

A Ford 300 I6 is a motor with a peak power rpm of 3600 rpm. It's wheel torque comes for gearing not cylinder pressure. Out lives many diesels.

On the second point there is no doubt. Fact is 'super car' motors are as reliable as grocery getters anymore and docile as kittens. Amazing.

Dont complain about issues with a used truck. Nobody knows how the last owner cared for it...maybe they towed at 50 mph in 1st gear uphill for a 40 hours a week - you dont know. I have always had great luck with new chevys. I never buy one unless its at least 2 model years old, and even better - buy the last year of an old model; you will get a smokin deal, and the manufacturing bugs are all worked out...
