6.2 exhaust (sub 600)

Recommended Posts

How did this exhaust fit? I might do this in order to prevent future arguments with the wife. Eye for an eye in my house so if I don't spend too much neither will she in retaliation... I can only imagine the damage if I bought a Borla kit.

It fit good, I have heard issues with the clamps leaking, so to prevent any issues I took it over to a exhaust shop to have all the seams welded ($40 is what they charged me).

I'll be honest, I didn't use the intermediate pipe (personal preference), I used the factory one since they don't ever have issues of leaking.

I was planning on using the clamps to get it aligned then welding it myself. I too was not going to use the intermediate pipe for the same reason. Maybe I'll use that Dynomax muffler too. Any sound clips by chance?

1990dtgl98, what mbrp exhaust did you buy exactly? i really would like to have a slightly louder sound as well. at startup and idol but dont want much if any at cruising speeds. we will be taking my truck on vacations so i cant have that.

Installed the mbrp today and I'm impressed.

Quieter than the SLP (and that was on the 5.3), almost no drone (definitely a little bit in v4 mode, and some at 68-75mph ish...but dare I say... It should even be baby friendly.

The only bad thing.... Every single clamp (minus the ball in socket Y pipe hookup), leaks. Not sure if they expanded the pipes too much (they all loosely fit and didn't slide together hard at all), or if the Clamps are bad. Ran them on with my 3/8" air impact so they're tight (lol) .

I'll probably heat cycle the new exhaust for 2 days, then loosen and retighten them to see if thy cinch down better. Otherwise Ill have to check other options.

i went to youtube and watched a bunch of videos on the MBRP and Magnaflow 12909 and i think the 12909 is more up my alley. better than stock sound at startup and idle and sounds good WOT but real quiet on highway cruising. is this most peoples experience with the 12909? does anyone on here have videos on the 12909, also what about removing the flapper and resonator? will those add too much more sound?

On my 6.2 I have the Magnaflow 12909 and deleted flapper it sounds good to me. Your observations are spot on. Deleting the resonator may increase drone. YMMV. Don't have video to share.
