2017 Silverado Whistling noise

Recommended Posts

I have a 2017 Crew 2500 with a Whistling noise at speeds above 65 with no wind or 55+ with a head or slight cross wind. I thought it was my factory open ended step tubes so I taped the ends and still had the whistling. Any one else with 'this noise? It can be heard over the radio at a moderate volume.

Well it's pretty prominent at 62 or higher speeds. Or 55 with a head or cross wind. I've taped every joint except the grill including the windshield and all marker lights ,wipers, and fog lights. Still whistles. Anyone have a solution? I read the FM antenna has caused a whistling noise on some pickups. I am going to remove it and see.

I believe I narrowed it down to the center of the hood to the passenger side, to the first bend in the hood. Not sure what to do now. I don't see anything there under the hood that would cause this. If I leave tape on the passenger side hood to grill gap the whistle isn't present.

Hmmm, I will throw this in the mix. My wife closed the vents in my dash, did not realize this and had a very loud "whistling" noise coming from the two closed vents, opened them back up, and noise is gone.

Yep! I also have this whistling from the vents. But the outside one seems to be hood related.

My '17 Sierra had a similar whistling noise that drove me nuts anywhere north of 55mph. Using an air hose, the dealer determined air was getting behind the seals where the side mirror mounts on the door of the truck. Resealed the mirrors, problem solved. Worth checking out. Good luck!

I've noticed that as well. On my GMT900 I noticed various wind noises/whistles if I had my lid folded up or down.

I've had this.. I just turn the music up more. lol i figured its normal for there to be some wind noise driving a giant box down the road at 70 mph

Isn't this the reason the engineers came up w/ SCV?
