2016 Yukon XL Denali

Recommended Posts

Hi There! I'm a pretty new GMC owner. Purchased a 2016 Yukon XL (Denali) in August 2016. Had no issues until recently! After a routine oil change at our dealership in Florida there was some vibration issues noticed by my husband. He took it back to the dealer and they said it was the transmission fluid. Issue was fixed by moving it to a higher grade transmission fluid. We then drove the car 800 miles from Florida to NY for vacation. On vacation I was driving the car and noticed some aggressive vibration/jerking. I pulled the car over and it continued to shake, buck, etc. I turned the car off and it totally stalled out. I had to have the car towed. It's now sitting at a dealer in NY. I've had to extend our vacation and send my husband home to get back to work. Wondering if anyone has had this issue and could tell me what to expect? I'm wondering how long something like this could take to fix. It sounded awful!

Just to update in case this happens to anyone else. My entire engine needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, they are telling me it could be weeks before the car is fixed. I'm currently still in NY and GMC has been almost impossible to deal with getting a rental car or airline tickets to return home. Really frustrating experience all around.

Wow, motors are not common. Torque converters are and thought that may be your issue till the motor. I had the fluid flush then that didnt work and they did the TC. That solved my shuddering for over 10,000 miles now. There have been some who had complete failures like yours related to the AFM(active fuel management). Suspicious of the routine oil change ? Wrong oil, wrong filter, wrong amount of oil or lack of. Alot seems to happen after routine oil changes. Sorry about your problem, hope it gets rectified. Let us know what they determined. Hope it's not related to your oil change as that will be another problem.
