2005 GMC Yukon 1500 Denali XL Air ride Issue

Recommended Posts

I have an issue with my air ride on my Yukon Denali. Here are the details.

New rear air shocks approx. 1 year ago, no problems after replacement.

At some point compressor stopped running----pulled battery to reset with no luck, compressor clicks but will not run.

No error on dashboard

One shock is fully extended (driver rear), other shock is completely lowered (passenger rear) Both bags are soft.

I have pulled all connections from shocks and replaced the complete compressor and still having same issue.

Not sure what to check next and how to check. Thanks in advance!!

Compressor will not kick on at all. Have added weight but no compressor. When starting vehicle, I can hear a click at compressor but it will not kick on or vent.

Does the new compressor come on? Have you tried to add weight to the rear cargo area to see if you can activate the compressor?

Electrical Diagnostic time, helpful with diagram

1) pull plug to compressor, direct hookup to battery, verify compressor works.

2) find relay, swap with similar one to see if it works (not sure if there is a similar)

3) check wiring on relay socket (is it power fed or ground fed), apply appropriate power or ground to socket to verify is wiring from there to compressor is good.

4) using a meter, connect to control signal side of socket, weight back end and see if signal is indicated.

5) if all of that is working, then level indicator on rear end or wiring to it are likely culprits.
