GMC Sierra - SLT vs Denali

Recommended Posts

Hence why i said 30 pounds versus our 26 gallon. Go to 34 gallons, now you're running what would be sand tubes in the bed of your truck.

Ok, so double that 28 lbs up to 56 lbs. From 26 gal to 34 gal tank. You are still never going to notice 56 lbs in a 5500 lb truck is my point. General rule of thumb is 1 tenth for every 100 lbs in a 1/4 mile. So that is only 5 hundredths of a second slower. No person is ever going to notice that by feel.

I see you have K&N Intake on your signature. Any chance you can post a video of starting up the truck and engine rev? I've been debating the K&N for two reasons. On my wife's side of the fam, Her brother, uncle and cousin, (uncles son) all have Silverado's and they all installed the K&N cold air intake. They said it helps with gas mileage and suggested I should get it as well, because it also sounds really good too. Does it change the sound that much?

It sounds a lot better while accelerating but not a loud idle still. I didn't notice much gas mileage help personally but it feels like it pulls a tad harder. I can try and take a video when I get back from vacation.

Who said anything about feeling it power wise? Any added weight is going to affect mpgs in some way.

I added an almost 300 pound topper then added 2 adults and 2 kids then added 4 luggage's and 60qt cooler loaded with bags of ice couple 3 qty 12packs you get it plus all the other added toys and crap. Plus the easy 100Lbs of nonsense I have underneath the rear seat for emergencies and everything else..Like a REAL floor Jack! Well just added 700Lbs easy! Guess what? I got the best mileage yet out of this beast a few months ago! .........so much for your added fuel weight theory??????????

Exactly like the other poster said, You ain't gonna notice EVER, feel or see it on MPG'S the added gallons of fuel your talking about.

A couole of months ago? So possibly summer blend gas, and mostly highway and weather warmer ould have easily caused your uptick in mpgs? Manufacturers spend a lot of R&D money to shave weight off these vehicles to meet CAFE standards....28 pounds may not sound like a lot to you but add that to the info i linked overall and thats some pertinent saupivngs. Ask, why would Ford move to aluminum on their best selling most profitable vehicle if weight savings wasn't a thing? Ever think how much it cost them to retool their factory? Some manufacturers have decided to save weight in areas such as an expanded fuel tank; not to mention the lack of area underbody to add such a thing without the tank dropping below the frame and causing drag and possible damage. Do you always throw crap out and hope it sticks?

Crap huh? You know in a bar I could possibly agree or carry on a conversation with you. On a construction site, they would have the time of their lives listening to you.......................................My uptick was certainly Summer blend, airflow from topper, 48mph tail wind, and of course I semi--drag because that's where I want to be with the family 5ft off the trailers ass! LOL never mind the 700LBS added weight that did absolutely nothing to my MPG'S!

You need to shut it down bro! Just take it in to the FERD Dealer and get you a 2.7L....problems solved!

It all makes sense with you mook. Instead of actually doing any real reading to formulate your conclusions or insights, you muster your knoweldge on things like,Goodyear tires are rolling death traps, all ford ecoboost engines die before 60K and in a desert environment, run your oil to 12K ocis, but change your air filter every 10K for real $$ savings....it all makes sense....you learn your facts around pissers at bars and porta johns on construction sites......if you want to believe that 700 added pounds does nothing to your mpg...have at it, just don't try to make those arguments with auto enthusiasts, keep it around your porta johns and construction sites.....lol

You can't seriously be arguing that adding weight improves mileage right? I am in the camp that an extra 60lbs will not be noticeable but there will be SOME decrease with any added weight.

I am not arguing JACK? Just implying that Mr. AUTO ENTHUSIAST himself is quibbling over vehicle weight and this and that with MPG'S.

As I explained to MR. Enthusiast stick his 7 gallon added weight theory where the sun does not shine!

Just wishing I had his breadth of Auto Enthusiast knowledge.....

Personally I dig the SLT All Terrain with the 6.2. Has the monochromatic bumpers which I am a fan of and grille and 20 inch wheels are nice too. Difference in price compared to a Denali was about 5K back in May 2015 when I bought mine.

Surprised that the Denali does not come standard with the 6.2.

Love the Denali.

My dash has more options

Stitching and colors are different.

Denali headrest

Denali in the bed.

Plus you get more options standard with Denali versus having to "add" them
