Keystone Bullet 210RUDWE

Recommended Posts

I have put a hold on a 2017 Keystone Bullet 210RUDWE. I have had some really helpful advice from this forum and am hoping I can get some on this particular trailer. It has the features and the size we like and appears to be a good quality. It is only my wife, myself and small dog travelling. My tow vehicle is a '15 GMC 1500 crew cab with the V6 so a larger trailer may be problematic! The net weight of this trailer is 4071 lbs. I appreciate your comments, positive or negative.

Keep in mind that the weight you posted is dry weight. Loaded for camping you can easily add upwards of 1,000 pounds (gear, good, clothing, water, propane, propane containers, etc).

Be sure to get yourself a weight distribution hitch with sway control as well.

Thanks. I have added a weight distribution hitch with sway control to the purchase. The salesman suggested I would not need sway control but I wanted to minimize any discomfort while towing!

Looked up the trailer.

Shipping weight is 4061. Cargo is 2339 so max weight is 6400. This would be one case where I doubt you will hit that, as 2339 is a fair bit of cargo even given water and propane and stuff. I'd figure ~5500 lbs. Tongue would be ~12.5%, or ~700 lbs.

What is the payload of your truck (yellow sticker on the doorjam)?

You will have trouble pulling it up the Coq with the V6, but it will still be doable. Depending on where in BC you live, this may or may not be a big issue.

If you do go this way, or want feedback on the trailer itself, check out http://www.keystoneforums.com/forums/index.phpjust be warned they are a bit tougher on not having a 3/4 ton than here is.

I appreciate your research! My payload is 1626 lbs. according to the door sticker. There are definitely some good climbs on the Coquihalla! I currently live on Vancouver Island but have lived in various regions of the province. As long as I stay under my maximum limits, I anticipate I should be able to drive at safe speeds. We are hoping to take some extended trips east and down south so I want to maximize the comforts but minimize the weight! I will take a look at the Keystone forum!

We decided to not proceed with this deal. There are so many lighter options that offer a very similar floor-plan. The Winnebago Micro Minnie is appealing but higher cost. There are many single axle trailers that may do the job as well. I have tried to avoid wood frame models with conflicting responses from the sales people. (No surprise) My greatest hesitation is I don't want to buy a trailer that is too awkward to tow or store but not so small we don't enjoy the experience! Any suggestions or experiences you can offer are appreciated!

There were a lot of those single axle, under 3500# deals out there. We considered those before we bought our Passport Ultra-lite. Alumi-lite makes some of the lightest campers out there. Passports are aluminum framed. Coleman, forest river, and the winnie's are wood frame if I remember correctly.

We were also looking for a specific layout (a set of bunks for kids), and there were only two that had that option...which limited us, and drove us to the Passport.

Another option would be a larger popup...our Coleman E3 had more room than our current 24 footer. Once expanded, you had two king beds, and a slide out kitchen. Our only complaint was the fact it seemed to rain every time we took it out which meant popping it up in the garage to dry out. It towed really well, which is one reason I liked it so well.

Thanks! We have a Keystone dealership fairly close to us and we'll take a look. They look good online but the prices are similar to the Winnebago Micro Minnie.

My neighbor had a truck like yours and towed a Jayco hybrid probably around 4k lbs. I thought he was doing fine with it until a new truck showed up in his drive last week. Still a 1500 but with the V8. He was tired of not having enough power and getting such poor MPG towing. He is traveling with the TT between PDX and Denver more these days. He is in the process of breaking it in so he can try it out towing.

Yes, I anticipate my MPG while towing to be a significant consideration. I had a travel trailer in the 1980's and recall the impact a trailer can have on your range. I'm hoping to get it right because a new truck wouldn't be on the "honeydo" list of fixes!
