I know that you need to find a happy spot on the iPod (yes, I still like my iPod, rather than my phone) for the volume if you are using it for the media source. Then you can go up or down without being to over bearing from the start.

Nah, on Carplay, with the 2017 i05, all of the volume seems to be controlled via the Infotainment volume.
I've even had my iPhone muted, at times, and Carplay still keeps everything at whatever volume is set on the truck.
Again, I wish there was a setting like my old Pioneer MVH I had installed on a 2004 Chrysler Sebring wherein, connected to Carplay, I could control volume on each device via the infotainment screen.
