Black Plastic Detailing

Recommended Posts

I'm have a 14 Silverado 1500 LT. My door handles and mirrors have the black plastic that as always fades quickly. I recently tried the meguiars black plastic restorer. It worked great. The plastic was good as new. A week later still great. Up until it rained. I was left with dull plastic and streaks down the side of the truck. Has anyone else had this happen? Also does anyone have a solution to the dull plastic problem?

I like the #40 if you can find it....... Takes wax residue of that textured black plastic too. I go over all rubber door seals with it too every 3 months.

I use wipe new once a year. My plastics are always dark shiny and rich. Wax doesn't stick and it's like $10. I'm a hardcore enthusiast detailer and have used hundreds of products. Try this one first you'll be happy you did

I've seen these videos for a while now.. a friend of mine did this process..

I you're feeling adventurous, you can try the 'heat gun' trick... my friend bought a used Tahoe(police auction) and it had a lot of faded trim pieces, and he did the heat gun 'restore' and it looked almost brand new..

We used to do the heat gun trick to our dirt bike plastic as well. Same idea I'm sure. Took all the white stress marks out of the plastic like magic!

Highly recommend 303 Aerospace Protectant for exterior plastics and rubber. Apply liberally, re-wipe with applicator every couple minutes, and after 5-10 mins of being wetted buff any residue with a dry towel. Extremely good stuff. I use it on my tires as well, I really like the look:

Try a product called Solution FINISH. It's a professional product But Pretty simple To use. DM If you Want To Know How To use It.

Yes, good recommendation. I use wipe new a lot mainly for maintaining newer stuff and solution finish is excellent and I normally use for restoration
