Performance combos

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone has the performance combo I'm interested in. I have a Volant CAI right now and I want a Hypertech PPIII and MAC after cat exhaust to go with it. Will I get any signifigant gains with this setup or does anyone have any better suggestions for the exhaust. Single over dual or dual over single. Any imput will be helpful. thanks.

All I can say is search the forums in lightduty and try something. As you can see by my signature, I'm still looking...been so for months. Don't know if single 3 is better than dual 2.5 or 2.25 and which one keeps low end torque and economy.

I may not be the best one to answer this, but I'll give it a shot since I've just had my exhaust done last week. For my stock setup, it was a 2 in 1 out with the 2 in being 2". I converted it to a TRUE DUAL and the out pipes were 2.25". As the guys at the muffler shops suggested to me, go no more than .25" on whatever setup you run. This should leave you with some backpressure and won't have your computer throwing codes. I would recommend the following: 1. If you have true duals then go with duals all the way out. 2. If you have a single you can a muffler with a dual out. 3. You could do a single in/ out.

On the dual in theory, you could have a 3" single and that may help your bottom end.

Anybody else please feel free to correct me or to shed a better light on the question at hand.

i would put money on a BBK 80mm TBI and set of 15" 282FLE flex-a-lite cooling fans being the biggest gain without going to a supercharger. i did the TBI and am about to try the flex-a-lite fans next. here's the manufacturer's claim:

With our Dual Electric Fan, you can expect to gain up to 17 or more Horsepower and roughly 20 ft. lbs. of Torque. Impressive gains for both towing and performance. Available in both push and pull options, this light-weight monster has dual 15" blades that move an unbelievable 5500 CFM. That’s serious engine cooling power. Our Electric Fan will also increase your gas mileage, save you money, and actually pay for itself over time. In addition to performance gains, you’ll also notice how much quieter your Electric Fan operates. The obnoxious roar and squeaky belts from your mechanical fan are eliminated. You get quieter, more efficient operation.

Dr,

I think there are better choices for programmers out there than the HPP3. I used one on my Camaro and did before and after dyno's. Didn't gain squat. The Westers reprogramming gets nothing but praise from what I have heard.

As for Mac, I've used their parts and the quality sucks. I would never buy their stuff again. My vote would be for Magnaflow.
