8l90 torque converter

Recommended Posts

My truck is exhibiting the tc shudder and since I rolled the dice on warranty with the blower, replacing it is up to me. Does anyone know the part number for a new one? My dealership is being "difficult" because I'm not having them replace it.

This is a copy of the bulletin floating around. Replaced mine for same problem but did not cure. Re did flushes and helped. Good luck. I think they have a problem with ATF causing some shuttering. If you take the part # for the tq they will update to newest part #.

You can also look at an after market converter. Circle D out of Houston are very highly rated. I had a 3600 stalling my 05 Silverado that was great.

I did call them actually, they could make a nice 265mm one with a tripple disc lockup clutch. The only problem is I'm told from two different tuners that both efilive and hptuners don't have enough tunability for the 8l90 aside from shift points and lockup points. You can't really adjust lockup pressure so they aren't sure how an aftermarket converter would do.
