Traded the 2017 Duramax in

Recommended Posts

That is probably true. But then you shouldn't use msrp when complaining about what is or isn't available as an option. If you didnt pay 72k then it isn't a 72k truck and don't act like it is. If he got 58k and only paid 56k well that's a bonus. The Ford Lariat shouldn't be priced higher than a Denali should it? I would think that the King Ranch or whatever their top line is should be comparable. Therefore he probably overpaid for the Ford.:(

Sorry to tell you but if the MSRP is $72K, it doesn't matter what you paid for it, it is still a $72K...truck. That is what it costs and could cost you to replace. My sticker says $52K bit I paid $42K, but do you think I have it insured at $42K?

Trolls.....

I sympathize with the OP. I have had several issues on the last 4 GM vehicles that I have owned. GM boughr a Tahoe back from me in 2014. My current GMC is suffering 8 spd woes. My 2014 Duramax had oil leak from factory. The other 2 are/were small and irritating issues.

I know warranty covers these things but who wants to spend time off at a damn dealership or have to drive something other than what you paid for? Certainly not me.

What makes you think you won't have issues with another brand? It's a crab shoot. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't.

I sympathize with the OP too. But you only see people quote msrp when complaining about their trucks. I didn't say how much you should insure for. It is ridiculous people come on here and just whine about their trucks when it is more than likely their the problem. It's crazy that someone could get 4 vehicles in a row with problems and stay with that brand. Or maybe they don't- troll?

Hang around for a while, seriously, hows that Ford. No brand loyalty here, would like an honest comparison between the 2 trucks. Borh are great vehicles, sounds like you got 2 crappy GM's in a row, though. That sucks. But, you still have owned both recently, I'm interested in your opinion on the comparison of them.

Only had the truck for a week but so far I am impressed with the attention to detail on the new style F350. (I know, it's only a week). What I can say, is that this Lariat (two steps down from the Platinum) has everything the Denali had and more - 6 upfitter switches (which you can get with a sunroof if you want), an entire camera system (was spec'd on this truck), camper package, and a few other things.. It is every bit as quiet as the Denali was, seats are comfortable for 1.5 hour trip so far with heat and A/C), and there is a slight bit more room in the second row, with a flatter floor. Also has A/C vents in the back of the center console for second row seating (the Denali just had a tiny vent under each front seat that was ineffective) ... The Ford SYNC/radio interface and controls seem to be more responsive/user friendly/not sluggish... Time will tell but it seems that a new Ford equivalent to the Denali in options, can be had for less.... My .02

Hope the ford works out for you, My 17 dmax runs like a top with 1500 miles on it. My 16 z06 with 4000 miles on it still scares me every time I mash the skinny petal and whats left of my poor 13 6.2 with 80k will live on again when I heal up from the idiot that pulled out in front of me. GM fan? You bet! Oh and the old LBZ will bust a tuned ford and still pull 36' camper YMMV

Well, as much as would like to say I was satisfied with the 2017 Sierra HD after just over 4 months and 4500 miles (still never added DEF fluid which I found odd), I decided I am done with GM.

My previous 2014 Sierra had tons of electrical issues, so much so that it was out of service over 60 days in a year and half. I successfully lemon lawed it with a replacement 2017 HD, paying the extra $$$$$ to upgrade to the HD.

I didn't even make it a two months before I started having some of the same electrical problems. Mirrors folding in at night (while no one around) and the glass being aimed in different directions, occasional periods where the dash displays don't 'fire up' for up to 5 minutes, occasional bouts of not having any control over the radio volume for several minutes. That along with the rear view camera being so bright you can't hardly see at night, and the 'surge' after letting off the throttle, which has nearly caused me to bump a car in a parking lot twice, and A prominent 'tick' when slowing down.

I still think GM is a very comfortable truck, and looks nice for sure - just not willing to go down the road of problems again.

4 years of the new body style, and Denali still doesn't have little things like a glove box light, an under the hood light (I know - knit picking but it is a Denali), or a camper package. You can order a snow plow package - but then you can't have sunroof or any sort of up-fitter switches.

These things along with the inflexibility of being able to order what I want on a $72k vehicle have made me switch to a Ford. Ford is way more flexible with what you can get on a truck. I can say that Ford has def stepped up it's game on the 2017 Superduty... Interiors are much nicer too. I got a Lariat, optioned up with most of what the Denali had (and even a few more things) I was able to find what I wanted for 62k.... Best trade in I could get was 58K... Thought I'd get 59-60K trade but nope. Still think I did ok on the trade - just wish I would've done the repurchase version of the lemon law instead of replacement... Wanted to give GM another chance though.

Wishing those with HD's good luck and hopefully mine is anomaly...... Again....

Why I don't put buncha electro car crap on a truck...jus sayin. Had Fords and well thier issues I have found are a fair better than Crapsler. If you want a truck and don't need all the car crap GM is pretty good. I would try Japanese but thier 8s suck fuel.

Yes would like to hear an honest review of this new truck. Perhaps this one will also be haunted and give OP problems but I hope it proves us wrong. No brand loyalty here, I swear people act like they are getting paid by these companies sometimes. [emoji23]

Lmao I know right!!

I truly believe you can get lemons in any make, sorry to hear you had two in a row and wish you all the best with Ford. In my case, I have got more satisfaction out of my last two Silverados than any of my previous 8 Fords.

Had a lemon Dodge. Ford was awesome. GMC was even better. This one? Juries out(1200 miles) but the infoassystem is getting gremlins. Regardless a truck is a truck not a car. Power side mirrors? Light in the glove box? I'm pissed I have illuminated make up mirrors on the visors! More electro garbage the more goes wrong. Ask any pilot or astronaut. Same applies to all motor vehicles. Good luck with Ford. They are badass. Jus use it, beat it and have a great time doing it.

I agree, Ford has a lot more options you can spec on a Super Duty, I live in hot central Florida and rear A/C is a must, I am ready for a new truck and might be stuck with a Ford and I refuse to get a Ram which can be had with rear A/C and GM doesn't even offer it.

Only thing you said that I disagree with is the GM HD trucks do have a "camper package" which consider of a hitch and a Gooseneck or 5th wheel hitch.

If you are referring to the Ford camper package it really doesn't offer much as it is a rear sway bar and add a leaf but the F-350 already has the overloads. The GM HD trucks have much better rear leaf springs and do not squat or sway like the Fords do.

Both great looking trucks, keep us updated on the Ford, enjoy all that rear cab room, flat floor surface, and rear A/C, I am jealous.

So I have had the F350 about 2 months and so far I am happy with it. I know that all trucks are controlled with electronics now a days, so always taking a chance. I will say that Ford appears to have stepped up their attention to detail (at least on this truck) and comparing apples to apples (take out the GM problems i had), I think Ford squeaks out as a better truck imo. As I stated before, this Lariat, has more standard options than my 2500 Denali had. It is easy to add accessories (6 up fitter switched pre wired and easy to find), more room underneath (I added a 5 gallon air tank and compressor, the tank fits perfect under the bed, and the spare tire still fits well). It is very quiet to drive, the ride is acceptable for a 1 ton, and there is no Ugly DEF tank that I have to explain to everyone what it is. (and couldn't add power steps like I originally wanted because if it) Even though I did not have to add any DEF to the GM (which I found odd after 4500 miles it still didn't need any) but wondered if I would be spilling the urea all over with the inconvenient fill location under the hood, near the firewall. Having the fill in the gas door makes more sense to me. (I am sure GM's reasoning was that they are afraid someone will try to put DEF in the diesel tank and ruin an engine). This F350 has the 4:10 gears so the mileage suffers slightly but still get 13-15 around town. As far as the camper package on the Denali, when I had ordered it - the dealer tried adding the camper package several different ways and it simply would not accept it - so that was why I had said it wasn't available. Number wise, the 17' Denali with a MSRP of just under 72.5K, was 'out the door' at about 67K.... The The Lariat had an MSRP of 68.8K, and I was 'out the door' at just under 61k... I have been rolling equity from my last few vehicles (And the lemon law'd 2014 was basically within about 2K of a full price refund/replacement). That said, I saved a little more ($750 incentive) on the F350 by doing ford credit, (4.0% APR) then turned right around and refi'd with my Credit union for 3 years at .75%, and they also deposited $100 in my account to boot. I only owe about 15K on this truck...

I still think GM's interior on the Denali looks nicer and is sharper, but Ford imo, almost has matched that in 2017 models...

I agree with others in that any brand can have a lemon.... I think I just got 2 in a row....
