Anyone Using a Electric Trailer Jack

Recommended Posts

Been pulling trailers for over 30 years this is the best one that I've come across I think I paid something like 75 bucks for it it is adjustable you just pulled the pin and slides down you crank it till the pain clicks back in the whole idea of this Jack is when you're going into places and you have different angles you do not scrape and then the crap out of your jack7e1dfc1d84f5e502b167c9db41bfafe6.jpg58dc60bee523391f2f43635b1d67c14b.jpg

It never gets to that point for me, not fighting or anything, just means I have to get out and go look for myself LOL At times I am just laughing.

We have walkie-talkies I can see her in the side mirror talking.... but no button, no talkie! LOL

That sounds familiar. ..

Sounds like what my wife was doing! I thought "What do we need these stupid things for? We have cell phones!". So we put the Walkie-talkies away and now use cell phones. With hands-free, it makes the job much easier. No more walkie no talkie events.

Don't know what the make on the electric trailer jack is but it came standard with our trailer when we bought it. Works great! No remote, though.

Cellphones work where you have signal...most places we camp are so far from anything, cellphones are worthless. We still use the radios, it just adds to the experience!

We have an Atwood electric tongue jack. 3300 lb rating and it does a good job.

Wife and I primarily use cell phones for backing and hitching. We do have walkie talkies for when cell service isn't available.

True. We do need new radios. The set I have we bought more than 12 years ago.

We've had three on our trailer (22 ft Continental Cargo enclosed car hauler) over the last 8 years so I can recommend one NOT to buy.

I know an earlier poster had no issues, but I'd recommend you do not get a Barker branded one. http://www.barkermfg.com/vip-3000.html

Trailer shop sells the brand and we got it put on when the trailer was new. Worked great at first, but burned out in 2 years (after slowing significantly over time), they replaced it for free. Second one burned out in 2 years, also slowing down significantly before giving up it's ghost.

At this point, you'd say something like once bitten or didn't you learn after the second one? Apparently not - we went looking for a new one but got a super smoking deal on the 'step up' higher rated / higher end Barker model due to our past issues. It was 1/3 the cost of a different brand and with the heavier duty model we figured it would be better. It's now starting to slow just like the others... Basically they have a 2 - 3 year life for relatively light usage (~20 weekend trips to the track each year).

We're looking to upgrade our trailer so just hoping it lasts until we get one and can sell it along with the current hauler.

That has been our experience as well. We have been to several state parks that did not have cell coverage in certain parts of the campground.

Like this place Lake Moomaw in VA. Not even a tic of cell service
