Stock air intake vs K&N CAI track times.

Recommended Posts

I just installed the S&B intake on my 2014 5.3 and noticed it seemed to slow down a little, but I have no tune. Other than some noise, I can't really see any improvement over the stock intake. And the S&B seals up against the fender pretty well and is fully enclosed from the engine, so should be getting good air from outside the engine bay. I may swing by my mechanic soon and see what kind of temps the IAT is reading.

Check your IAT but if he is able to have him see if the truck is running very lean or very rich from the air flow change. Did you disconnect your battery for 30 minutes during or after the install?

No I didn't, am I supposed to? I saw nothing about disconnecting the battery in the instructions other than disconnecting the negative before starting, but I figured that was just because of a lawer saying to do that because there was electronics involved. I'll do that today when I get home, unplug it, have dinner, plug it in. There is soot on the tailpipe so probably running rich? It's dry and comes off easily, not oily.

Removing the negative cable for 20-30 minutes triggers the PCM to go into a learning mode. That might help with some of your issues. When I put on the CAI it made my truck really rich so my tuner had to lean the tune out.
