Duals or Single Exit?

Recommended Posts

So just picked up my '17 and its quiet, and I can't take it so I am either going to run a dual exhaust system or just a single out the side like our stock exhaust but I am so use to always having dual exhaust.

My question is are the duals louder? Quieter? Pros and cons of the single I guess is what I am looking for....

Not many true dual kits out there, single is much more common.

As far as single vs dual tips, not much difference in sound, just its exit location and projection.

I think the exit location preference has a lot to do with if you tow or go off-road a lot. Either of those the rear bumper exit might not be preferable. I have had single rear and dual rear bumper on my truck. I prefer the dual as it balances the sound behind you. With the single rear exit, it always sounded like the exhaust note was coming in your right ear.

Yeah I don't tow a whole lot, but I do like the sense of being able to hear the exhaust haha.

If you are doing it yourself, getting the dual pipes to line up even and straight out the rear bumper can be a real pain. I went this dual rear bumper because I drive a lot of dirt roads and the tips get caked with mud and stone chips when the exit is right behind the tire, not so much with a bumper exit.

No im planning on buying a stainless kit so yes in a way I am doing it myself. It's going to be a side exit, not a fan of the bumper exits for some reason.

This is what I noticed too when changing out the muffler recently - did at first seem like all the sound is on the right. Now after a couple weeks don't even notice - but loving the sound - thread linked in my sig.

Appearance wise and sound wise - money no object - duals for sure.

Cost wise and ease of install - muffler swap - lose the flapper - keep the resonator.........
