Well, depending on where you live, the bugs are starting to come out in full force. I wanted to ask the group two things:

  1. Do you have an air deflector on the hood of your truck? If so, which one and do you find it stops a lot of the bugs splattering on your windshield? (Pictures welcome!)
  2. What do you guys and girls use for washing your truck to get the stubborn bugs off the front grill/bumper? Any special products for those stubborn ones (soaps, sprays, sponges, etc.)?

Thanks!

A foam cannon will help a lot. Just getting the bugs wet and letting the soap dwell on the paint will soften them up and make removal a lot easier. Just be very gentle on the pressure when hand washing to avoid scratching the paint.

Those foam cannons are just for pressure washers, correct?

Keep it waxed, spray with hose to soak before washing. Bug scrubber used lightly if needed. :happysad:

A rinse with water, spray some Awesome cleaner and wipe down with a bug scrubber. The Awesome is $1 at the local Dollar Store and has tons of uses around the house.

I use a spray9 type spray. Get it from a janitorial supply. Just spray on and then wash it. Everything comes off easy and no scrubbing

For less than $400, you can remove bugs very easily every time. Plus you will have other uses for the tools needed. 1st, buy a pressure washer. You can find a decent one that is refurbished for less than $250. 2nd, buy a foam cannon. $65-99 will get you any of them. 3rd, buy some Bug Off by Shine Supply.

I soak the vehicle with water. Then spray the Bug Off in areas affected by bugs. I pressure wash off. Most bugs will come off, but then I use foam cannon and rinse. All bugs will be gone after that. You can use foam cannon before the bug spray as mentioned above. I just choose to do it the other way around.

Do not use one of those bug scrubbing pads and muscle. You are hurting your paint, chrome and truck by scrubbing. Good chemicals with pressure is the key. Ask any professional detailed who lives in a bug heavy area - they will all tell you pressure.
