Clay bar use frequency

Recommended Posts

Claying a car is easier than washing it. It should be like doing an oil change. Routine maintenance.

I don't bother on my DD. Every now and then I'll buff the toys, only drive them when the weather is perfect. I don't even change the oil on the DDs, their always under warranty I have the dealership do it. When you get older priorities change. Plus it's to damn hot here.

I clay every spring which is also when I bring out the D/A to do a light compounding followed by polish and then wax.

I'm tempted to look into one of these magna sponges instead of traditional clay. Looks like a lot less hassle. We'll see though, I still have a lot of Meguairs Blue Clay left.

I clay bar before doing any type of sealant, so usually once in spring and then before winter. I wax as needed throughout that time period to add some gloss and extra protection. I just switched over to all Adam's Polishes so I'm learning a bit of a new routine with the addition of H2O Guard and Gloss.
