2.5" or 2.25" pipes???

I want to order my single in dual out muffler but am not sure what size outlets to get. Should I get 2.25" or 2.5"?? Any difference? Thanks.

With a 4.8L I would DEFINITLY go with the 2.25" pipes, I have them on my 5.3L and I didn't loose any low end with my muffler. With 2.5" pipes, you will loose to much low end because the will cause a loss in back pressure. My opinion is that if 2.5" pipes are to big for a 5.3L, they are definitly to big for a 4.8L..

I don't know about an x pipe, but don't go true duals - cats. My loss of low end happened on a 5.7L

I've been running dual 2.25 out the mufflerwith my 5.3 for quite a while now, and she's been running without any noticable power loss to me.

I am runnin a Flowmaster 40 series 3" inlet dual 2.25" outlet, rear exit on my 4.8L. If any low end was lost with the muff I regained it w/ the intake. 2.25 works for me! I think 2.5 would be too big.

Ditto!

Dual 2.25's out will flow more than enough. Anything larger and your just sacrificing low end torque.
