2500 VS. 3500 Ride

Recommended Posts

Thinking about one or the other and I wanted to know what the difference is in the ride.

1. Is the dually much more harsh over the bumps?

2. Is the dually more difficult to maneuver at low speeds?

3. Is the dually much more difficult to park?

Any other general riding and driving impressions between the two are appreciated.

Although I don't currently own a truck, I think I may be of some help to you. I've test driven 5 different used duallies this summer from Chevy and GMC, so here is my take on them:

1. The ride is a little bit bumpier as can be expected, but if there is weight in the bed, the ride does becomes better.

2. I didn't have a problem with maneuvering a dually, but around tight right corners at a stoplight, there were a few close calls. In the end, everything was okay. You do have to be mindful of the extra wheels in the back, flares, and whatnot. Also, speed is another factor to be wary of.

3. As far as parking, I guess it depends on where you park. Sounds obvious, but I felt that it was about the same as parking a truck without the duals. Garages, tight spaces, and between 2 brand-spanking new Yukon Denalis is indeed a challenge....to say the least :smash:

Thankfully, no trucks were harmed in the endeavor.

That's just my humble opinion, but in any event, I hope it helps. :fume:

Got a dually right here. Buddy of mine has 2002 dmax. My 94 is kinda bumpy on roads and may be a lil hard turning sometimes but i dont think id want a dually for a everyday driver. Maybe for pulling big stuff but not for goin back and forth to work.

If you dont really need a dually I would just get the 2500hd.I traded a f-350 psd dually when I bought my 2500hd in Dec 02.With a dually your buying 6 tires , forget about the auto carwash and most drive-thrus are to small. If your pulling a huge 5-wheel cross country fulltime by all means get the dually for stability, load capacity. My 2500hd reminds me of driving a big luxury car.A dually will never ride as good as a single wheel.
