Hex logic foam pads

Hey all, just busted out the new porter cable da for the first time. It came with a selection of the hex logic pads(bought the kit from chemical guys.com). After using the orange pad, I put the white one on and was going over the same areas and the middle of the pad blew the ef up! A golf ball sized chunk from the dead center of the pad was missing, not to mention the car was covered in white foam. What did I do wrong so I never do it again, lol.

 

Also, on the cg website and saw the microfiber pads and decided to order a set of those to try out. Anyone have any experience with these?

 

I'm working over my 16 Sierra and my wife's brand new Acadia. Her car has less than 100 miles on it and looks like they washed it with a scotch brite pad.
