anything new should be good.

there is a version of rubber from the 80s that took wild stabs for quite some time.

Nitrile somethings..

terrible.

I found on my old 1996 a caliper with decay on the rubber boots, while driver side was mint.

new old stock and a newer one at the same time.

Stuff still breaks and wears in intervals.. but the rubber stuff is just one change for the better.

Both my front axles tore boots within a week of each other. Car is road driven with minimal off road/4wd as needed. What brand would you recommend?

GM sells replacement outer boots, much better quality than the aftermarket split down the middle design kind. If the tears appear fairly new, it is a cheaper option than replacing the whole axel shaft assy.

I destroyed my driver shaft about a month ago. Blew apart the inner joint and blew the part that mounts to the diff in pieces. I bought an orielly cv axle. Paid $100. Overall I'm happy with it. Seems to be working good. Have used the truck in 4x4 since it's been installed. No issues.
