Vehicle Inclination Sensors on Theft Protectection Package

Recommended Posts

What's the point of including the inclination sensors on the Theft Protection Package? My vehicle doesn't have this package, yet i can still see in my instrument cluster the inclination of my vehicle, either facing up, facing down, leaning left, or leaning by right, by the number of degrees. It does use this information as it automatically engages the hill start assist feature if I'm pointed uphill. If the sensors are already there on the vehicle, why does it need more as a part of this package? Anyone know?

My guess would be an additional sensor that would work when the vehicle isn't on, similar to the self powered car horn for this package. The sensor that's built into truck probably doesn't work when it's turned off, especially when someone is trying to steal the truck with a tow truck!

What's missing? The $410 they charge to flip the switch.

Seriously though, probably requires another module to tie together the interior motion sensors, button to deactivate interior motion sensors, glass break sensor in the back and the self powered horn.

Hi all,

Could anybody tell me how this actually works when you need to DISABLE it? I see the button to disable on my overhead console. The manual is vague, but I assume you hit the button to disable it and the little light turns on, you turn off and exit the vehicle and LOCK it, and the motion sensors should remain disabled, correct? Until the next time you unlock, turn on, and turn off and lock the vehicle, in which case you'd need to hit the button again? I think that's what they were saying in the manual, but it was vague.

Thanksgiving road trip and bringing our dog with us, and he'll need to be left in the vehicle for an hour or so a few times. Don't want to learn the hard way! Thanks!

I always turn the vehicle off first, press the button and the orange button lights up. If you press it before you turn the vehicle off it will display a message in the center area of the dash as such. It resets after you unlock the doors. It's particularly useful on ferries as the movement back and forth will set the alarm off.
