I Have a early 2015 ltz 2500hd diesel but do not have the ambient temp sensor in my tow mirror as they are the old style factory tow mirrors and I believe the early 15 HDs did not have one in the mirror unless high country. My question is will I need to purchase the diesel powerfold tow mirror for the passenger side that has the sensor? The set I currently have is off a high county gas truck and has the power fold option and id really like to use them but it does not have the sensor.

I have some follow up to this. I used the harnesses I received from Phil along with the factory rzy harness and the powerfold switch. I have all functions expect power fold on the passenger side. No check engine light from no air ambient sensor only thing I can’t get to work is passenger side fold

This is the same issue that has occurred with 3 other members. We have a fix for this. PM me for details. The issue here is that the Memory Module is not sending the fold command to the passenger side. The reason why the driver side folds, is because it doesn’t come from the Memory Module. We tried a Memory Module reprogram and it didn’t work. I have created a work around harness that taps the driver side fold circuits and delivers that to the passenger side.

--Update on mirrors purchased from 1AAuto with wiring issue. --

Below is my review I sent them.

Poor customer service Great Mirror

I purchased the tow mirrors Part #:1AMRP01786, after installing them the drivers mirror was popping the fuse for the same side running lights. I called 1A for support and was told that I had purchased the incorrect mirror and that the "mirror warranty was now null and void". I was told that the issue was that I had auto dimming on my old mirror and that was causing the short.

GM-Trucks forum had several people reporting the same issue. One of the forum members took the mirror apart and found the issue was the marker light (positive) wire was crimped to the power fold ground (negative) causing the short. The manufacturer rep on the forum asked if one of the other forum members would verify on another mirror. By this time I had already removed the bottom glass and verified the same wires were crimped on my mirror.

In the process I broke the bottom mirror. The mirror manufacturer assured everyone on the forum their mirrors would be covered by the warranty and the issue was that a small batch of mirrors had inadvertently been wired wrong.

I contacted 1A auto to try and get the bottom mirror covered under warranty and to correct my account to by showing the issue was a manufacturing problem and the warranty should still be intact. But was told again the issue was mine and the problem was the auto dimming option, and my mirror warranty was still "null and void." I absolutely Love the mirror and will be buying another set for my other truck but will not be buying it from 1a auto.

Update: After this review 1A contacted me and verified the issue had indeed been resolved as a manufacturer mistake, refunded my glass and confirmed the warranty was intact. I am updating it to 4 star because I love the mirrors very much.

Thank you very much for sharing this! I apologize for the issues you ran into and to everyone else that experienced this issue.

While I receive no compensation for referring these mirrors, I still feel I have an obligatory role since I do make a suggestion to these mirrors quite frequently as a good alternative to OEM.

I hope they get their inventory situation squared away soon. Glad that we have the forum and the community members here to help each other out. If it weren’t for us, they wouldn’t have known that the issue exist.

Thanks again!

For anyone looking for DL3 Mirrors, I currently have 3 Sets for sale.  These all came off of a 2017 and 2018 trucks with 1000 miles or less.  In excellent, pristine condition.  I have them listed in the Marketplace but some of you may not have enough posts to view the Marketplace yet, so want to make the announcement here.

Thanks!

Hello!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to Phil for assisting me with my DL3 to tow mirror upgrade. I had a set of the 1AMRP01786 mirrors with the bad splice, and Phil was really helpful. He even send me an extra mirror to test while we were troubleshooting the issue. Everything is working great now.

Also, I have a pair of Black DL3 mirrors off of my Midnight Edition Silverado 1500 for sale for $400 OBO. They have memory, power , power fold, heat, signals, dimming, etc. If you are interested please PM me and I can send you pictures and other information.

Thank You!

Would the harness you sell as a diy kit be for adding the necessary wires into the factory door side harness to gain the turn signal function? My 2016 LT has the needed pins on the body side but when I plug in the mirrors the turn signals don’t function

That’s correct. The DIY will be all the necessary wires with their respective pins crimped on each end. It’ll also come with all the full instructions to modify your factory harnesses.
