***1A Auto / AM Auto Mirror Issue UPDATE***

The manufacture has provided me some information for anyone who has purchased one of the mirrors below from 1A Auto or AM Auto.  Note that the Manufacture is ChrisCam out of Taiwan.  All of these mirrors are the SAME mirror (1AMRP01786).  Each variant part # simply dictates the cap color or options like diesel exhaust temp sensor (in the cap).  This mirror is the ONLY mirror that supports Mirror Memory/Seat Memory (A45 RPO Option) and is Power Fold.  1AMRP is the 1A Auto Part #, AM- is the AM-Auto Part #.

1AMRP01786
AM-2558332961
1AMRP01790
AM-592278965
1AMRP01794
AM-3397687628
1AMRP01798
AM-4039565055

ChrisCam has identified about 75 units that are affected by the issue.  The issue again, is that the Running Lamp circuit and Mirror Position Low Reference Signal are tied together inside the mirror (behind the glass).  ChrisCam is standing behind the product.  They are aware that some of you have taken matters into your own hands since 1A Auto / AM Auto wasn't aware of the issue. They also know that some may have broken the upper or lower glass in the process of attempting the fix.

For anyone that has broken their Driver Side Upper or Lower Glass as a result of attempting the fix, they will directly assist with glass replacement.  For those that need replacement glass, please email ChrisCam directly at:

[email protected]

In the Subject Line, include "1AMRP01786".  Then include your name, shipping address, and "per recommendations by Phil Gamboa".  Include the needs in the body.

Also note, there might be some older batches in each Company's inventory and that may not be affected.  So I wanted to bring some awareness to this.  1A Auto already pulled 1AMRP01786 from their offering but other models are still showing available.

As always, if anyone has any questions, please let me know.

Thanks everyone!

Although I repaired the manufacturers wiring defect in my LH mirror and avoided breaking the glass, the top mirror section now reflects a distorted view.  I may have placed too much stress on the mirror backing plate while removing/replacing it.  I am reluctant to pull the mirror again for fear of breaking the glass and not having a replacement in hand.

I sent an email to the support address this weekend explaining the situation and requesting their help.

We will see what happens.

Keep me posted. I have some replacement glass coming to me directly from the Manufacture. These replacements parts will be for anyone that has purchased these mirrors and a harness set from me.

Thanks!

I gotta say I absolutely love these 1A-Auto 1AMRP01786 tow mirrors I put on my wife's 2016 LTZ.  Now I'm looking at putting the same set on my 2017 LT. I ran the wiring and pinned the harness myself on the LTZ. However the LT has the DL8 mirror. I assume the door harness very is different from the LTZ. How much function would I get if I pinned and ran the same 2 wires (pins 11 and 9) and swapped out the driver side mirror switch? Or is that even feasible?

Brad,

All of my YouTube videos showing this mirror is on my 2016 Silverado LT that originally had DL8 Mirrors. So, as long as you pin the lighting circuits (and ground) on both factory door harnesses, you should be good to go. Switch part # is 23154702. Memory features/circuits are omitted in this case.

Good Luck!

HUGE THANK YOU to Phil Gamboa,

I purchased after market tow mirrors for my 2016 2500HD Silverado LT Texas Edition. I swapped out the mirrors however none of the functionality worked. After further digging I came across this message board. I purchased Phil's Plug and Play harness, followed his YouTube step by step video and now I have turn signals, cargo lights and amber running lights working perfectly on my tow mirrors. I can't thank you enough for your knowledge, integrity and support. I am extremely happy and a very satisfied customer.

Hello!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to Phil for assisting me with my DL3 to tow mirror upgrade. I had a set of the 1AMRP01786 mirrors with the bad splice, and Phil was really helpful. He even send me an extra mirror to test while we were troubleshooting the issue. Everything is working great now.

Also, I have a pair of Black DL3 mirrors off of my Midnight Edition Silverado 1500 for sale for $400 OBO. They have memory, power , power fold, heat, signals, dimming, etc. If you are interested please PM me and I can send you pictures and other information.

Thank You!

Excuse me if these questions have already been asked,  I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 gas with DL8 mirrors and want to uprgrade to aftermarket towing mirrors with the clearance light/turn, power adjust, and heated, manual fold. Do i need to make sure the mirrors have a ambient air temp sensor in them or not?, i know i will need the DIY harness from Pgamboa but will i need anything else, I planned on being cheap and getting mirrors from ebay just because i dont have a whole lot to spend on this upgrade, thanks for any info

See the very first post of this thread in its entirety. K40 - Diesel Exhaust Brake is when you need the Ambient Temp Sensor. If you’re gas, your fine.

Also note that since you’re 2014, you’ll also need the RZY Jumper Harness will be Needed so that you can land the tow mirror light circuits at the door jamb / cabin side. This is also explained on the first post.

Let me know if you need any other info.

I’ve run into a problem. I spliced in my cables and everything was working but now the left side taillight doesn’t come on unless your locking the truck or pressing the brake. Also the the front left headlight bar does not work unless locking/unlocking.

Sounds like you might have incorrect spliced the park Lamp circuit incorrectly somehow.

I’m not sure how that could of happened. The wires running to the door jam I cut then ran my own wires to the mirror. Is there a different way I should of run them?

Just wanted to say thank you Phil for your awesome harnesses and super quick responses to questions! The upgrade to factory GM tow mirrors was seamless thanks to you!!!

That said, if anyone is looking to upgrade from DL8 to DL3, I have a pair of factory DL3 mirrors from my 2014 Sierra SLT All-Terrain that I'm selling. They are black/chrome with power folding, led turn signal, puddle lamps, and heated. Looking to get $400. PM me if interested. I have more photos, but am limited on size to upload on the post.

***UPDATE on 1A Auto Mirrors***

I have been informed that the Manufacture will be working with 1A Auto to resolve any outstanding issues. 1A Auto does not want anyone performing the LH mirror repair as we know. So... for anyone that still has an open issue with their mirror, please contact 1A Auto or AM Auto (whichever you purchased from) and they will work with ya on replacement resolution.
