Just want to add that the slot location of the blue wire that is tied to the Running Lamp is slot 3 and not Slot 4. Slot 3 is a Mirror Position Low Reference Signal. This is a memory feature that returns the mirror back to its stored memory location. It is not the power fold circuit in circuit that is on slot 4.

I updated the pic in the previous post.

That’s my bad…not sure why I said power fold when I had known that that wire had gone to motor mirror head as I pulled out of connector to check. I was tired I guess and could not count the pins…lol

No worries. I could have sworn I tested continuity on pin 4 and got continuity. Then I noticed pin 4 is an aqua color wire as opposed to the same blue color.

Does anyone have any tips on removing the pins from the harness?

This is the mirror side? If so, lift the white tab up about 1/8”. Then, looking at it from the front, there is a little lever inside each slot. Lift this lever with a pick tool while gently pulling the wire out.

***1A Auto / AM Auto Mirror Issue UPDATE***

The manufacture has provided me some information for anyone who has purchased one of the mirrors below from 1A Auto or AM Auto.  Note that the Manufacture is ChrisCam out of Taiwan.  All of these mirrors are the SAME mirror (1AMRP01786).  Each variant part # simply dictates the cap color or options like diesel exhaust temp sensor (in the cap).  This mirror is the ONLY mirror that supports Mirror Memory/Seat Memory (A45 RPO Option) and is Power Fold.  1AMRP is the 1A Auto Part #, AM- is the AM-Auto Part #.

1AMRP01790
AM-592278965
1AMRP01794
AM-3397687628
1AMRP01798
AM-4039565055

ChrisCam has identified about 75 units that are affected by the issue.  The issue again, is that the Running Lamp circuit and Mirror Position Low Reference Signal are tied together inside the mirror (behind the glass).  ChrisCam is standing behind the product.  They are aware that some of you have taken matters into your own hands since 1A Auto / AM Auto wasn't aware of the issue. They also know that some may have broken the upper or lower glass in the process of attempting the fix.

For anyone that has broken their Driver Side Upper or Lower Glass as a result of attempting the fix, they will directly assist with glass replacement.  For those that need replacement glass, please email ChrisCam directly at:

[email protected]

In the Subject Line, include "1AMRP01786".  Then include your name, shipping address, and "per recommendations by Phil Gamboa".  Include the needs in the body.

Also note, there might be some older batches in each Company's inventory and that may not be affected.  So I wanted to bring some awareness to this.  1A Auto already pulled 1AMRP01786 from their offering but other models are still showing available.

As always, if anyone has any questions, please let me know.

Thanks everyone!

How hard of a job on the custom puddle lamp? Where did you get the puddle lamp at?

OK,  that puddle lamp is seriously amazing. I have a set of tow mirrors on the way with puddle lamps, and have also ordered the plug and play harnesses from pgamboa.

How did you get yours to do that???

Thanks

It wasn't hard to do the puddle lights. Hardest part was making the leap to drill a hole in the cover. Other than that very easy install. I didn't have my mirrors on when I did it so it made it easier which I would recommend since you will need to run the wire thru the telescope arms and the door grommet also.

I just now created this account so that I could publicly thank Phil Gamboa and Nick99 for their efforts in the recent mirror upgrade debacle.  The attention to satisfaction and responsibility Phil took, though not required to, providing me with the info and materials required for the upgrade.  Then to further work to make things right with the manufacture.  Incredible, just incredible.  Also thank you to Nick for taking the time open his mirrors and then share with the group.

The install went well and the final result fantastic. Now, as for those projection puddle lamps. I MUST HAVE!!

I'm not sure of future participation in the group as I see a path for too many upgrades and modifications on the wish list.  J/K
