So at this time, I cannot suggest these mirrors for trucks with Seat Memory until I can figure this out.

I'm pretty good with a Fluke, If I get the time to figure it out before anyone here I'll make sure to post my findings. Next I plan to go to the power fold plug in the door harness and start shooting wires back to the running lights.

Brad, I have the same problem (2016 1500 LTZ) and Phil has been helping me, but so far as I can determine no one has figured it out.  Just a thought....if you clip one of those blown fuses and insert the blade in the "load" side of fuse #29 so you have a connection for your Fluke....could you determine which pin in the mirror plug (other than than the running light pin) hows continuity back to the fuse?  I love the mirrors and changing lanes on 290 is no longer a white knuckled event, but right now I just running with the left mirror parking light unplugged.  Makes the truck lopsided after dark :).  Good luck!

I appreciate the help guys. I bought a set myself to see if I can trace things down. I’ll install it onto my LT truck.

Since I don’t have Seat memory, I don’t foresee there being an issue for me... since the commonality is on the seat memory side of the circuit and the mirrors.

Finally had time to check and the marker light and turn signal are tied internally in my mirrors. I pulled the pin for the marker lights and taped it up. Everything works as a turn signal now so thats fine for now.

Im really happy with the visibility the tow mirrors give me when i took my toy hauler around the block for a test so I'd like to keep them. I'll probably end up picking up the nicer ones with power fold eventually. What do you recommend for now if the ones from A1 auto are having issues? how much more are the OEM ones? Part numbers are much appreciated.

1AMRP01786 and any of the variant mirrors. Basically, the mirrors that Support “Memory” and “Puddle Lamp”. If you have Seat Memory, those are the trucks affected.

If you are adding this mirror to a non-Seat Memory Truck, the issue doesn’t persist.

I have seat memory. Truck is an SLT with DL3 mirrors from factory. Would it be better to just wait until this issue is resolved?

Yes, or go with OEM.

You can also forego seat memory and get their other Non-Seat Memory Power Fold Mirror.

Definitely on my list of troubleshooting ideas..

Just gotta find the time. For now I too look lopsided going down the road.. LOL

We could just unplug the passenger side marker light.... NAAAAAAAAAA HaHa

I had the same problem as you guys with the 1AMRP01786 tow mirrors and just fixed mine…I have 2017 silverado crew cab 1500 ltz. Just got my new tow mirrors 1AMRP01786 and got diy kit from phill. Installed everything and blew fuse 29…took mirror apart to check and found running lights pin #1and power fold pin #4 are crimped together inside mirror causing short when power mirror switch plugged in…I cut out the crimp and wired the two wires separately. Replaced fuse and plugged everything back in and it’s all working good nowIMG_4951.JPG48ace9eae6e7c181e27c32cad50626fe.jpgIMG_4953.JPG

Nick,

THANK YOU very much for diving into this and finding the issue! With your permission, I’d like to share your photos with the manufacture in hopes they can quickly make a revision change. Obviously, it’ll take a while before this update can happen, but better sooner than later, and thanks to you, we can share this with the manufacture.

I have had open dialogue with the manufacture and have provided feedback like this so that they can improve.

Many thanks again!

@nick_99chevy

Can you also confirm that all functionality like power adjust, power fold, memory features, and all lighting features are completely restored and functional with this fix?

Thanks,

Phil

The more I think about this the more irritated I become. I can see no reason for this splice but to purposely induce a short when both options are used simultaneously.  When this first started happening I called 1A-auto to inquire with one of the Technicians. I had already narrowed it down to a short in the mirror. I just never figured the short would have been intentional. I hope I'm wrong but when it quacks like a duck....

I was asked to sent a pic of my door plug so they could verify my pins.

Here is a copy of the email I got from 1A-Auto.

to me

Hello,

Thank you for your assistance in providing this information. We will have an update for you within the next 24 to 48 hours.

I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. Our goal is to have this resolved for you as quickly as possible. If at any time you would prefer to return the part for a refund, please let us know.

to service

I don't want a refund, but I do believe the drivers mirror has an internal short and would like to replace that mirror only.

The other side (passenger) is wired exactly the same way and is functioning perfectly.

Thanks, Brad

to me

Hello,

Mirrors should be replaced with an "option for option" fashion. If your mirrors do not have the same options that are listed in our listing, your driver side mirror has auto dimming and is the cause of the shortage you are describing. These are electrical parts and once installed are not returnable for a refund. While the passenger side is still under warranty the driver side warranty is now null and void. Please let us know if you have further questions.

 Thank you,

Taylor
