I also have a 2014 with he basic DL8 and yesterday purchased Part Number: TRMRP00012 form 1A auto. I am thinking (hoping) these are plug and play DL8 replacement since they are just power adjusting and heated. I would have loved to get all the lights to work but it was a difference of about $175 plug and play basic tow mirrors or upwards of $600-$1000 and a lot of work for full light functioning tow mirrors since it’s a 2014.

If these do end up being plug and play please let me know. Saves lots of time, money, and energy being easy install rather than new adapters, harnesses, etc.

Hello, new to this forum.  I recently replaced the mirrors on my 2015 GMC SLT Black Ops edition with the power folding tow mirrors.  I currently have the OEM switch for the power fold and do not want to put the switch that came with the mirrors.  I want to use the OEM switch.  I am looking for the wire pins only that go into the plug.  I know someone that works for Chevy in the parts department and they were not able to locate the pins.  Just wondering if anyone could tell me where to find the pins so I can complete the install of the mirrors.  It sucks having them on my truck and not being able to use the power fold option.  Thanks in advance.

Hello Mr Gamboa,

I have a 2016 2500HD Silverado that I have changed the DL8 mirrors to DPN and believe your plug and play harness would work. I don't see how to purchase the harness. How would I purchase the harness?

PM sent for ordering instructions.

I haven’t had this first hand, but since it doesn’t have the lighting features, they should be Plug and Play.

Power fold should already be present on your harnesses. So if you swapped mirrors and now don’t have power fold, then you most likely didn’t install power Folding mirrors.

Do you have part #s to what you installed?

What a long road this has been, and I would have been so lost along the way without help from this thread.

Recap: I bought a 2017 Silverado 2500 last summer. Only thing wrong was it came with DL3 mirrors. I need DQS tow mirrors. Dealer agreed to do the swap, but installed DPN mirrors instead (no powerfold/no seat memory). I've been fighting with the dealer for months. While they kept saying they would "make it right" they ended up refusing to do anything further.

I ended up suing them in small claims court where we arrived at a settlement. They must pay me for the cost of the upgrade. Supposedly, I will go to the dealership for a check within the next few weeks.

I believe I need the following two part numbers:

84041609 - Driver side mirror

84228892 - Passenger side mirror (gas engine)

During the DPN install, they did put in the correct harnesses (84125561/71) , so I should be set there.

Questions that remain:

1. I also see 84228894 referenced in my notes. This comes up on GM Parts sites as a mirror, but no detail. Do I need 92 or 94? 92 looks like the right one (although parts sites claim neither is compatible with my model+year).

84228894 is the diesel model mirror. Only difference here is the passenger side has a temp sensor. 84228892 doesn’t have the temp sensor in the passenger side. This is ONLY a requirement if you have diesel and will throw a CEL if you you have diesel and don’t install the correct mirror. Gas engines, it does r matter which one you install.

2. This upgrade needs to be done at an auto body shop. No dealer in my area will touch it and ADI refuses to do it. (One dealer claims that cost coud be >$800 for the labor alone, but they still wouldn't do it). WIll this require any type of computer reset to function properly (especially the power fold and seat memory functions)?

None of the members here that I have advised on or sold to, needed any computer, BCM, memory module, or any sort of programming.

3. While hesitant to complicate matters further, is there any advantage to going with the 1A Auto version of this mirror mentioned in the thread?  My current harnesses are 84125571/84125561. Is there a plug and play version of the aftermarket mirror that will save some money and/or deliver extra/better features? (The GM mirrors are about $500 each).

The advantage 1A - Lower price for power Fold, smoke lens on the running lamp, some models have a bonus Puddle lamp (no OEM Tow Mirrors have a Puddle Lamp), lifetime warranty.

The cons - some report the upper glass vibrates more than on OEM, turn Signal is not the red arrow on the glass (it’s Amber on the outside edge of the cargo spot lamp), an additional Pigtail is needed. Harnesses are built custom (by me) to support the bonus Puddle Lamp.

Seems like a small thing, but I would never have purchased this truck if I knew the mirror issue would be such a hassle. My local Chevy dealers are clueless on this topic - guess they don't sell many trucks that are used for towing aorund here.

Thought you were on radio silence for a week pgamboa? [emoji16]

I wasn’t allowed to buy on board WiFi, but my wife did. [emoji23]. Using it very sparingly. LOL

I installed the towing mirrors following the steps.

My turning signals now wont functions properly, if I signal to either side, all of my turning signals come on as hazards.

Any idea what this could be?

I also got a message on my dash about having reduced steering assist.

I rechecked the wires, all were plugged in correctly and carry proper voltage.

So essentially, to make sure I am correct, If I wanted to go from my current DL8 mirrors to aftermarket Tow Mirrors WITH LED Turn signals, Puddle Lamps, Power Fold, etc. I would have to purchase the RZY harness, install that first, and the mirrors would be plug and play after that, correct? Thanks

This is a classic symptom of after Market tow mirrors where the manufacture has the turn signal AND running Running lights tied together inside the mirror itself. My guess is that the mirror doesn’t have a dedicated turn signal in the glass? I see this quite often and many of these makers don’t wire them up as individual, causing this exact symptom. You’ll have separate the circuits and remove one or the other.

If you have DL8 Mirrors, door harnesses are required if you want to upgrade to tow mirrors that have the lighting options. If you’re truck is 2014 - early 2015, that’s when the additional RZY is needed in addition to the door harnesses. This is two step for ya.

For mid 2015 (2015.5) and on, RZY is NOT required and only door harnesses are.
