If you already have DL3 and want to get the tow mirrors 1AMRP01786, is a harness necessary?  Isn't it just plug and play?

Scott, it won’t be Plug and Play. The turn signal will work along with the puddle lamp. The running Lamp will not illuminate because the wire circuit for that is left unlanded (out of the box(. The Cargo lamp will not illuminate because Pin 2 of your DL3 harness is designated for Dimming on the driving side.

Also, these are the only tow mirrors with the puddle lamp on them. No other tow mirror has this lamp, so we have to be creative in getting this wired up by using an unoccupied slot in the connector. I have provisions for all this in a DIY Kit or a PnP Harness Set. I saw your message on YouTube but haven’t had the chance to respond and saw your note here... :)

Thanks Phil.  I could live without a puddle lamp.  Would another mirror without it be plug and play?  Or will the running lamp and cargo light need to be "landed" no matter what?

Add me to the list of very satisfied customers that upgraded to DL3 mirrors. Phil has better customer service than any business I've ever dealt with and the harnesses were like straight from the factory. Can't recommend his services highly enough. Thank you, Sir!

Since the Cargo Lamp in almost all tow mirrors I’ve seen land on slot 2, none will be Plug and Play since your harness has that dimming circuit on slot 2. That’s why a harness swap/modification needed. GM shares slot locations within the 18-Pin connector based on the options. That’s why it has made this upgrade as difficult and confusing as it is.

Thanks for the feedback! When I decided to begin offering a “product”, I wanted to ensure I only put out product that I would install on my own truck. If I didn’t feel good about putting it on my truck, I would feel comfortable selling to someone to put on theirs. I take great pride in what I do for everyone here and always willing to help anyone along the way... whether they buy something from me or not.

Thanks again for your feedback! Certainly appreciate it!

I have an 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom/WT truck. I have the basic defrost and power mirrors. I just bought some tow mirrors by Syppo online from Ebay. These new tow mirrors came equip with:

New 2015 Design Chevy Towing Mirror, Custom Made fits Models

Power Operate Adjusted: Yes
Heated: Yes
Turn Signal: Yes.( On glass )
Power Extended: No
Power Folding: No
Memory: No
Clearance Lamp: Yes. ( on the back of mirrors). Buyer needs to do own wiring. Wire included, no instruction with mirrors.
Backup Lamp: Yes. Buyer needs to do own wiring. Wire included, no instruction with mirrors.
Color: TEXTURED BLACK

I've installed the mirrors on my truck myself but the none of the lights works.  Do you have info or a special harness that I can purchase to make these tow mirrors fully function and work? I would like to have my turn signals on mirrors, backup lights and clearance lights working. Please respond to this post or email me at [email protected]. Thank you

It came with an harness, but my truck wasn't equip with turn signals before buying these tow mirrors, I heard I may need additional wire harness and have my vehicle flashed. Syppo didn't have instructions converting over. I'm basically going from a DL8 mirrors and would like to convert to a DPN tow mirrors.

Yup. I sent ya a PM about this. The extra connector is for the lighting system. If you can send a pic of the front of the connector so I can see the pins and connector layout.

This will be 2-steps for you. Are you looking for Plug and Play or DIY?

Sheedy,

I'm upgrading from the DPN to the DQS mirrors. I have a 2017 Silverado that is only about 6 months old. The mirrors have the chrome backs and are in excellent condition. I don't know how you feel about used mirrors but maybe between the 3 of us (you, pgamboa, myself) we could work something out that could benefit all of us and get what we want without having to spend a lot of money.

Hello,
Thank you for your message. This part is listed for models with OEM mirrors that are Power, Heated, Memory, Power Folding, Smoked LED Turn Signal, Spotlight, and Upgraded Puddle Lights; and for models without RPO Code K40 (Diesel Exhaust Brake).
Provided your OEM mirrors match the listing 100% this kit is listed for your application and should not need any modification to install.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Thank you,
