Hey guys I’m new to the forum but I’ve been a long time subscriber!

So I’ve searched this thread for the problem I’m having and I don’t know if it has come up before or not but my girlfriend bought me a set of aftermarket tow mirrors that look OE for my 14 Sierra all Terrain sle. I installed them and they look great however after a day, I noticed when I put my turn signal on, all of the front turn signals would turn on ( left and right signals and both led signals on the mirrors). The rear signals worked fine.

They installed fine and didn’t require any wiring, the harness plugged right in and they worked fine when I first tested them. My factory mirrors were heated, power, power folding, red signal light, and puddle light. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas where I should start.

thanks!

For any mirror upgrade, there is a need for either new harnesses or a modification to your stock harnesses.  The stock harness will not have any tow mirror lighting circuits pinned.

When you say "they installed fine", did any of the lighting circuits on the mirror itself work as intended?  Tow Mirrors should have Turn Signal, Cargo Lamp (White LED that shines rearward), and Running Lamp (Amber LED that shines forward).

Some aftermarket mirrors actually have both their turn signal and running lamps tied to the same circuit.  They should be separate.  It sounds like you are getting some voltage back feed from the mirror turn signal to the running lamp circuit.  Seen that from another member and his mirrors as well.  If the mirrors are built this way, circuits tied together instead of separate, this is similar behavior.

Well these tow mirrors don’t have the red arrow signal on the mirror, instead the forward facing leds are supposed to be the signal. The rear facing spotlights didn’t work but I wasn’t too worried about that. The forward facing LEDs didn’t work as marker lights either. When I first tested them the signals worked okay but after a day it looks like I have my hazards from the front whenever I use the signal. Is there a way to fix the mirror

This is what I figured.  Aftermarket mirror that do not have the red arrow for the signal generally combines the turn signal circuit and running lamp circuit to the forward facing amber light.

In order for the lighting circuits to work properly, there is a ground wire in the 18-pin mirror connector (pin 5) that isn't present in your stock harnesses (presuming your are SLE).  So how they "worked" at some point is a mystery.

You should disconnect both mirrors from the harnesses.  Then, using a 9V battery, apply negative voltage to pin #5 of the mirror.  Then positive voltage to the following pins (individually) and report which part of the mirror light up.  Pin #1 (should be the Amber Running lamp), Pin #2 (Should be the white cargo lamp), Pin # 13 (should be the turn signal).

Even though your mirror doesn't have the red arrow, still apply voltage to each pin and report what each pin lights up on the mirror.

Standby for a pic of the connector pin # layout.  OEM Mirrors have # references in each corner, your mirror may not.

Soo..... another Happy pgamboa customer here! I just got done with the DL8--->DL3 upgrade using Phil's plug and play harnesses. The harnesses were shipped quickly, and they looked like they came right from GM! 2 hours later and I have fully functional DL3 mirrors thanks to Phil, because I would have quit half way through if I tried to figure this out on my own. Everything went flawlessly except for one broken clip, but that was my bad.

Hello, I just purchased a 2018 Sierra Denali and had the dealer install power folding tow mirrors. They removed the OEM DL3 premium mirrors and harness and I have them listed for sale. Since I’m new to this forum, it will be a while before I can l post an ad for sale so if anyone is interested in a pair of 2018 brand new DL3 mirrors and harnesses, shoot me a message and maybe we can work something out. Thanks

Just 49 more posts :). This requirement was made because one person was scamming people with fake listings.

Have u talked about w/t that doesn’t have power mirrors. Would it be possible to to add a basic power tow mirror or more.

thx
Josh

If you have power windows, you can upgrade. It’ll be a little more involved but doable.

Pic on the left is a member with W/T. He had power windows, but manual adjust mirrors.

Had to swap out the bezel with one on the middle or right (power Fold vs non power fold). There is an additional harness that is behind the door panel itself. So, just depends on what you have.
