***UPDATE***

I am having extreme difficulty with AM Auto Parts and in fulfilling a defective mirror. This would be the 2nd set they’ve sent that have an issue. They state due to incorrect installation. As many of you know, I know what I’m doing when it comes to mirrors.

At one point, they stated incompatibility and incorrect fitment, then refused the return/RMA. At this point, unless Tony from @1ATony can help with the defective part I need, I cannot continue to promote this product or brand.

Sorry guys. I know there are MANY of you that are extremely satisfied with this product, but the Customer Service and the customer experience thus far on Warranty Fulfillment is just unacceptable for me to continue to promote.

Please know that I get absolutely NOTHING for promoting a specific product or brand and provide the service of what I do based on personal experiences.

For anyone that is looking to upgrade to Tow Mirrors, at this point, I am going to say OEM until further notice. If you want to purchase a set from 1A Auto or AM Auto, you will do so at your own risk and responsible for warranty fulfillment.

I am only trying to do the right thing for a member who entrusted me to provide a solution for him. Unfortunately, we have gone through two sets of mirrors and still do not have a fully working solution.

I know both companies will do just fine without me promoting them, but I just can’t promote a company that doesn’t have the same level of support as I do, or a difficult warranty fulfillment process.

Sorry guys.

Thanks for posting this Phil. I was about to order a set of tow mirrors form 1A, but I'll wait to see if this is resolved and if it isn't pretty quickly, I'll go with OEM DPN mirrors.

Is there a way to get the clearance lights to blink with the blinker while its on and when the blinker is off the clearance lights run normally? Believe I saw this in person one night but didnt pay much attention to it.

Thanks again (2nd time) Phil for all your help! After helping me with my father's truck, Phil worked his magic again and helped me with mine. Sorry for the bad pics, I'll get some better ones in daylight & once I get the chrome caps on.

There is a method called "Dual Function Park Lamps / Turn Signal" mod that uses a resistor and a couple of diodes.  This method dims the park lamps all the time when they are on, then applies full voltage when the turn signal is applied.  I tested a relay theory and got it to work, but the clicking sound of the relay was too loud for my taste.

Can you explain the dual function mod? Where do would the diodes and resistor go?

Okay, I tried to search, I don’t think Tapatalk search feature works great.

I’m trying to understand the functionality of the guidance lights. It comes on with the cargo lamp except when in drive? What’s the purpose of the BCM programming? Are there additional features in the infotainment system? This is for tow mirrors that are NOT powerfold. It appears everything is working although I want to be sure I’m not missing out on anything.

Tapatalk search is terrible.

When you say “Guidance Lights”, I presume you mean the Amber forward facing lights? If so, these are referenced as Running Lights, Clearance Lights, Marker Lamps, or Park Lamps.

The intended operation of this circuit is that it comes on anytime the headlights are on. The official name according to Upfitter is “Park Lamp”.

So on when headlamps are are. At night, that means all the time since the headlights are supposed to be on. During the day; it is switchable by turning your headlight switch on. When you unlock at night, it should come on as your headlights do.

As for BCM programming, it is still unclear to me what this does as all of my customers who have bought my harnesses have not needed programming of any kind.

Maybe if a seat memory module didn’t perform a command after the upgrade... again, still unclear to me on what it actually does.

Hope this helps.

Any options in the radio or cluster are dependent of other options and cannot be gained. For example, if you didn’t have key fold fob, reverse tilt, or mirror memory, you cannot add that even if the mirror has it.

Sorry. Was talking about the white lights on the tow mirrors.

So GM (according to GM Upfitter) calls these "Courtesy Lamps".  They are tied to the same circuit as the Cargo Lamp circuit.  It can be turned on and off with the I/P (Instrument Panel) Switch.  Can only come on in Park and in Reverse (I think Neutral too).  Automatically turns off in Drive.

If you see someone that has them come on while in Reverse, this is achieved by a diode in the BCM.  There is a thread on here called "Cargo Lamp on with Reverse Diode Mod"

Completed my upgrade last weekend. With the use of Phil’s custom harnesses the install  on my 2016 Silverado DOuble-can was a breeze. Couldn’t be happier with the results. Thanks Phil, your knowledge and quick responses are over the top.

If if anyone is interested I do  have my stock DL8 mirrors in Black for sale.  Excellent condition, PM me if interested.

Tons of great information in this thread.  Thanks Phil!!!

I saw the post about 1aauto parts, and their customer service.  I've been trying to find a set of used DQS mirrors through eBay and using a national salvage yard search engine, but I'm not having any luck for a pair, and their cost isn't far off from the dealer cost.  Sooooo...

If I were to buy the set of mirrors (P/N: 1AMRP01786) from 1aauto, what additional DIY harness wiring would I need?  I'm comfortable repining connectors as needed.  My truck is a 2016 Chevy 2500HD LTZ that has the DL3 and A45 RPO codes on the glove box sticker, so I have all the same features as the DQS, except for the parking lamps.

Well it seems as if even the dealer can't seem to get DL3 to DQS mirrors correct. Just bought a new Silverado LTZ CCSB this past week and went ahead and ordered the towing mirror upgrade as I have very little time to DIY during this time of year, the wife has me spending all my free time making Christmas gifts. Picked up the truck from the dealer and didn't realize that neither the puddle lamps nor the power fold are working correctly until I got home. And I have to be in Miami Sunday and can't take it back to the dealer and have them  fix it.

I did get dealer to give me the factory DL3 mirrors back and may consider putting them on my wife's truck (2016 LT CCSB) sometime after the new year....work permitting. From what I have read all the functions that are in the DL3 mirrors are in the existing wiring harnesses that are in the truck from the door to the cab are present but the internal wiring harness in the door needs to be changed out. Shouldn't need the RZY harness at all ( I hope ). All I would need is the new harnesses from pgamboa  and a new power mirror switch for the power fold option. Please correct me if I am wrong.

And I'm still pissed at the dealer, power fold would have come in super handy parking in Miami.
