Im sure this has been answered but I cant find it in the search and just want confirmation I understood the write up at the beginning before I start buying stuff.

I have a 2017 Sierra 1500 base model elevation. My mirrors are power adjust only (Im in Houston so I doubt they have heat) so I do not think I have an official upgrade option. All I want is to replace them with the black smoked lense style tow mirrors and retain my power adjust and add turn signals to them both (puddle light would be a bonus if possible). Do I just need a custom harness or is mine too basic to upgrade? If possible to upgrade, do I have to buy the oem tow mirrors or is there a good aftermarket set that will provide the functionality I want at a more reasonable price? Any insight is appreciated.

Do you know your trim level? SLE? If SLE, and your mirrors have power adjust, they will have heat too. Power Adjust mirrors all have heat in this factory mirror. This is a DL8 mirror. You can also verify that by looking for the DL8 RPO in your glove box RPO code list.

If you have DL8 mirrors, this upgrade should be relatively easy for you. You will need to swap door harnesses out. This can be achieved by purchasing a Custom PnP Set from me. If you are a DIY'er, you can modify your existing harnesses with my DIY Kit.

For mirrors - you'll need to determine if you want power folding or not. There is only ONE aftermarket manufacture that makes a power folding tow mirror equivalent that the GM ones and that has the smoke clearance/park lamp lens. Those are from 1A Auto. AM Auto is also the same company, operating under a different name.

IF you go aftermarket, you'll save a little more than 1/2 the cost of mirrors over GM mirrors. However, most of the aftermarket mirrors from 1A/AM Auto will require some sort of modification to the mirror connector. If you go with GM Mirrors, you'll only need a new harness or DIY Kit. If you go power fold, you'll need a new power adjust switch that has the power fold button, to keep it OEM.

If you go aftermarket and require mirror customization, I provide this service. You order the mirror, and have it shipped to me. I fix them up, build the harness to support the features, trim, and your truck. I ship to you. It will be Plug and Play by the time it gets to you.

Puddle Lamps - ONLY certain tow mirrors from 1A/AM Auto have the bonus puddle lamp. Don't confuse this lamp for the traditional lamps found on tow mirrors. Traditional Tow Mirrors should have - Turn Signals (this could be the red chevron in the glass - mirrors from 1A/AM Auto are not in the glass, but rather to the outside edge of the white cargo lamp), Cargo Lamps (white LED Lamps that shine rearward), and Park Lamps (amber light that shines forward).

Hope this answers your questions, please feel free to PM if you have more and want information to move forward.

NOTE: Lastly, due to the increased interest of these mirrors from 1A/AM Auto, they are in a sold out situation with no ETA on when they will be in stock. So please check frequently and/or get on your notification list.

Thanks,

It will be PnP for him but he’ll lost...turn Signal, Auto Dim, Power Fold. Heat and power adjust will work fine. He’ll need to keep his stock harness in.

For you, you’ll either need swap your door harness with my PnP set or modify your stock harness with my DIY Kit.

He won't care if he loses those. He doesn't like the tow mirrors and I want them haha.

He should be go to then. You’ll need to swap door harnesses or modify your existing ones. PM me if you need anything else to complete this swap.

hello,i was reading your forum on this and watched the videos, very informing by the way. glad i found this because its definitely for complicated than when i swapped the mirrors on my dodge.

my truck in a 2014 diesel LTZ with every option on the mirror. my understanding is you make a harness where all i would have to do is just change out the current one for yours for everything to work? and i believe i would need the DQS tow mirrors from Chevy or aftermarket as long as i have your harness. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello there,

You have 1/2 of the solution. Since you are a 2014, this is a 2-step process for you to upgrade to Tow Mirrors. On all 2014 and some early 2015 trucks, GM didn't include all of the tow mirror lighting circuits in the door jamb. So if you were to inspect your door jamb connector (body side), you'll find that you are missing pins 9 and 11. These two circuits are the Park Lamps and the Cargo Lamps. I have a YouTube Video that explains this. It is the RZY Jumper Harness (Part #23387133).

Once the RZY Jumper Harness is installed, then YES, swap out your door harnesses with mine, and this should all be Plug and Play for you. I am also presuming you are a 1500?

Switch shouldn’t need to be swapped. If you can PM me a pic of the Glove Box RPO List, that’ll help.

So I don't see A45 in this list. This tells me you don't have Seat Memory. I'll also send you a PM for more info. Thanks!

I'm sure this has been answered in some way in the 43 pages this thread has,

Ive got a 2017 Silverado LT Z71, i want to upgrade to tow mirrors. i don't want power folding, cause I'm from Toronto and I've seen them break due to our winters.

are the tow mirrors plug and play ?? or what do i need to do to put on aftermarket ones where everything works properly

i was looking at the ones on 1A Auto
