Just received my packaged kit from pgamboa. He loves his clear tape and wrapping. Lol. But everything is as described and undamaged. As soon as I get my switch from my parts department I'll post some before and after pics of the install!!! The diodes even came w his instructions (I have a '14 and need them in order to get puddle lights to function)28c824c72d4d8fc1c1abf8e1a706ffdb.jpg719d42a292e1af1d2d0f84d62f522296.jpg82decd753ceb00b60d0bf21b5fbdd74f.jpgd2f49230c26b8343d411b72dbebc85a5.jpgce842c5dc7ec645c5ea946883b54d87c.jpg

I bought a set of aftermarket tow mirrors with the power folding option from 1a Auto and a factory harness from GM Authority. The mirrors came with a separate pinned plug for the power folding option. Is there a way for me to wire that into the factory harness that I purchased?

Yes. You'll need to order the pins and a crimp tool. The turquoise wire goes into slot 4, and the yellow wire into slot 18.

No matter how many times I see this upgrade, it makes me happy knowing that I have helped someone achieve their upgrade desires. Nice work!

Definitely!!! Did it on my 07 Avalanche but was told that it would be damn near impossible on 14s and up. And if not for your harness, it definitely would be.

Hi Phil, I have a 2015 Silverado LT 5.3L with the DL8 mirrors and would like to upgrade to the DQS Trailer Mirrors. Is this Plug and Play with your wiring harness? If so How much and how do I purchase them?

Thanks,

Tom

Yes - This is Plug and Play. There is one verification to check, but for the most part, it'll be PnP.

PM me for more info. We'll need to confirm a few things on your truck just to be 100% sure. We'll need to figure what mirrors you are going with.

Thanks!

I ordered the DL8 - DL3 harnesses and they worked GREAT!

All I had to do was find some DL3 mirrors and a power folding mirror switch and it was plug and play from there. The puddle lamp diode provided was super simple to install thanks to the easy instructions included.

I HIGHLY recommend this upgrade to anyone with DL8 mirrors.

Hoping for some help on my "truck experience from hell" situation. After 30 years I have returned to GM and this has been the worst car buying experience I have ever had. (the mirror issues are just part of it)

I posted a while back about my mirror situation. 2017 Silverado 2500 LTZ Midnight. Came with the DL3 mirrors - power fold, and memory. I did some checking here and read through the entire topic. pgamboa was kind enough to provide me with the part numbers for mirrors and harness to upgrade to the DQS Power Fold Tow mirrors.

During the sales process, I worked out an arrangement with the dealership to have them install the DQS mirrors. I specified DQS several times (it's in writing). Install was today.

Of course, they installed the DPN mirrors (with new harnesses). I lost power fold and memory. Immediately went back to the service desk where things got strange.

This wasn't a "service" department thing - it was a "sales" thing. We went back and forth. Seems they have a third party company who handles this for them (and all Chevy dealers in the area). They called back the company who insisted it is IMPOSSIBLE to retain power fold on replacement mirrors. They finally put me on the phone where we went back and forth. The company is insistent it cannot be done. Claims the part numbers I have are valid, but only apply to FACTORY installed. They cannot be ordered or installed after the truck leaves the factory. They told me I didn't know what I was talking about because there is absolutely no way it can be done. I terminated the conversation when they started to get rude about it.

Back to the sales department. They were pleasant and claimed they will look into this. I gave them the part numbers. However, they did say that this company does work for all Chevy dealers in the area, so they are inclined to believe they know what they are talking about. I can see their point... all I have is "some guy on the internet said so." :)

Any ideas on what I can tell the dealer to prove the install company wrong so I can get the correct mirrors?

My only other option (which I would like to avoid) is to sell the four mirrors and eight harnesses I currently have (they left me all the original equipment items). That's assuming it is possible to buy the correct OEM mirrors without going through the dealer. Then go to my autobody guy and have him do the install (I don't want to take off the door panels myself).

Do you have any options, pgamboa? I know you sell the harnesses, but can you get the mirrors?

PS- adding to my confusion...

pgamboa gave me these part numbers for the harnesses:

Part # 23171564, which has been superseded By Part # 23342727 (Driver)

Part # 23171567, which has been superseded By Part # 23342716 (Passenger)

Going to the GMPartsDirect website, it claims that these part numbers do not fit my vehicle (shows it fits the 1500 series). Could this be part of the issue?

Joe,

Really sorry to hear all the issues you have had to deal with on this issue. As for the part #s I gave you, these are the part #s for the harnesses needed for this upgrade. If you give me all the harness part #s you have, I can cross reference all of them tell you what you have. Keep in mind that harness part #s get updated. So that ones I gave will work, and there are several variant part #s that will work as well. So when you see "superseded", this means GM updated the part #.

I really don't know what would be the path of resolution would be for you besides telling them what part # mirror you want. Besides swapping the mirrors and the harnesses, that should be it for you.

There are no differences in the door harnesses between 1500 and 2500. There are some differences in some early models of trucks between 1500 and 2500 (2014 and 2015) but not on 2016+. There have been several members that have completed this.

Thanks for the response. I shouldn't be surprised by the dealer's lack of knowledge.

The mirrors they installed are definitely the DPN version. Part 23372182. The installation company acknowledged that claiming it is the ONLY option for mirrors once the truck leaves the factory.

The two harnesses are these part numbers (directly off the box they came in):

84125561

84125571

It's not a matter of anyone claiming they installed DQS mirrors/harnesses. It's them claiming that there is no such upgrade path available. "DQS mirrors only exist as a pre-installed factory option." I'm stuck between the rock and a hard place.

This upgrade was a "swap" I negotiated with the dealer. They agreed to upgrade to DQS in exchange for taking back the hard tonneau cover I didn't need/want. I'm going to end up upgrading on my own if this can't be resolved. It's just a question of which will be easier to sell... the two sets of mirrors/harnesses I have now OR the old set of mirrors plus the tonneau cover. I do like the idea of being a pain in the neck and forcing them to re-install the original mirrors.

The way I feel right now, I am already looking two years down the road (maybe less) and trading in to go back to that other brand. The 2500 is a _really_ nice truck, but I'm very sorry to say that Chevy just misses the mark in a few simple areas - the mirror issue being one of them.

I did send the dealer the GM service bulletin showing the official upgrade path to DQS for my truck. That document covers 2014-2015 models. I also found an updated bulletin online for 2016 models. Hopefully, that will be enough to "prove" my case. Can't find a similar document specifically for 2017 models. The dealer isn't directly involved in the details of this - they are stuck with whatever ADI tells them. Based on my conversation with ADI, they are NOT likely to change their position as to what can and what cannot be done.

Strange, but it seems I can order the part numbers you provided from GMDirect online and for less than they sell for on eBay. Yet ADI claims these can NOT be ordered by anyone and can only be pre-installed at the factory.

Maybe the dealer will come through. I'm supposed to call them on Tuesday to see what they were able to find out. I really hope it doesn't have to get ugly.

Need a little HELP. I installed my OEM tow mirrors Friday with the correct OEM harnesses everything was plug and play until Sat. morning. on Friday all my controls worked and lights functioned as they should. when I went out Sat. morning my left and right control on both mirrors either does not work or doesn't work correctly. Im thinking I need the BCM flash to restore these functions. like I said everything worked correctly on Friday but Im thinking after a few cycles of start and stop the computer noticed that something was different and now I have not right left control on the mirrors. The videos put on here were a great help thanks so much for all the help
