That's very close and close call on the carelessness of the van. I always fold my mirrors in every chance I get.

this is exactly why I am trying to upgrade to mirrors that'll auto fold with the key fob!

I've got an after market solution for this that I feel comfortable with now that I've had some time to test it. It's not a Plug and Play solution but is as close as I can get.

once I have enough dough I will definitely be talking to you Phil. Just bought myself some new fox coilovers/shocks so that's my current project for now

Yep - I just can't remember who I've alerted so far that auto fold option is now available. :). Too many mods. LOL.

Auto fold position? How does this work? I might have missed it in the thread.

Figure I'll ask here first.....

Do anyone here know of way to pop the back caps off the factory towing mirrors without having to remove the glass? Hoping someone might know a trick or tool that would work.

After running the chrome for a couple months I've decided I'd like to wrap them in color matched vinyl. Would love to be able to remove the back caps without monkeying with the glass for fear of breaking it or it's mounting points

I haven't tried this on OEM Mirrors but have done them on the 1A Auto Mirrors. They just popped off.

I actually happen to have an OEM Mirror passenger side mirror I purchased for testing purposes. I'll add this to the list and report back.

Ok I have a 2015 silverado 1500 LT crew cab. The pic is from the glove box with options. I currently have the dl8 mirrors and need to upgrade to the tow mirrors. I want the blinkers and lights to work don't have to power fold. According to the gm upgrade chart I should just be able to get mirrors and harnesses but after days of reading and research I'm still not sure what I need. I found a oem kit on eBay for over 800. Pretty chunk of change of I'm wrong lol. Amy help would be greatly appreciated. 51bb9f037541f88e76ea0f521f4138fa.jpgd8e3ee20173d572fc2dac8a2917cf551.jpg

Hey Pgamboa, I own a custom shop in Maryland which we have added the powerfold tow mirror options for some of our local dealers. I have a 2017 Silverado customer that we added a non towing mirror but power fold mirrors that were removed for a 2017 Silverado with that option. We changed the door harnesses aswell, part #84125576 drivers and 84125566 passenger and added a 23488411 switch. In reading your posts I've found that the switch is wrong (had to force it in) and got the 23154702 switch now but need to get the truck back to switch the switch. The problem we are having other then the mirrors not folding is from the drivers switch only the Drivers window works none of the other windows work from the Drivers switch, They work from each of the other door switchs. They turn signals work and lock and unlock work. The Dealer is telling me, Because the Truck is the LT trim that we need to add the memory seat module and harness so they can program it, Is this true or do you have a way around this? Thanks for your help Bill

Ok. You've got a lot going on here and will try to parse this out as best as I can. So let's start with the truck that you tried installing the mirrors onto.

Truck is a 2017 Silverado that has DL8 (small) mirrors. I presume this truck is an LT (or lower) trim? You took a set of DL3 (small) mirrors that have turn signals, puddle lamps (shines downward), power fold (from an LTZ/High country trim) and installed it into this truck along with the harnesses that came from the truck that originally had the DL3 Mirrors. Is that correct? If so, I know exactly what is going on.

First - yes, the Power Fold switch Part # 23488411 is the incorrect switch, and Part #23154702 should be used. It is only on some 2014/2015 HD trucks that needed 23488411. You blew a fuse in installing Part #23488411. Locate the fuse in the X51L Fuse Panel (Driver side panel) and replace it.

The harness set you installed on this truck will NOT work. What the dealer told you is also incorrect. Yes - the harnesses you installed from the donor truck are DL3 Harnesses AND rely on the Seat Memory Module, but there is a WHOLE LOT more needed in order to get all the components to communicate....let alone.... modules that will need programming... IF the dealer can even successfully program it. I've gone down this path and cannot suggest it.

You are better off reverting BACK to the stock harnesses and adding the missing circuits in the harness for the lighting. My custom harness sets corrects this and will make this Plug and Play if you decide you do not want to tackle the harness modification. I DO NOT advise even attempting adding the Seat Memory Module because that will spiral into a place you don't want to go.

As for the other windows not working from the driver's side switches, there is an instruction on the DIC that says to "Open then close the Driver window". This occurs when you swap the harnesses out. Follow the instructions, and you should be able to correct this. Turn the truck off and back on again...the message should appear.

Seat Memory has LOTS of dependencies and wiring. Here is just the tip of the iceberg on what you'll need to change just to meet the hardware requirements of Seat Memory:

  • Door Harnesses (both sides)
  • Door Panel Harness (both sides)
  • Driver Door Handle/Seat Memory Bezel/Button
  • Passenger Side Window Switch
  • ALL the wiring from the BCM/X61A Junction Box, X310/X320 Seat harnesses, etc.

We would like to order your harnesses to make this conversion easier, along with the new switch and fuse replacement is that all we need? Thanks Bill

Yes. I should have switches in next week. I have harnesses ready to go but I won't be able to ship anything today as I will be in surgery this morning. I'll PM you more information to move forward.

Just wanted to share another member's upgrade.

@jpolano - 2015 Silverado, 2500HD WT, 6.0L Gas.

This member upgraded from non-power adjust (DE2) mirrors to after market tow mirrors from 1A Auto - Part # TRMRP00045. Swapped bezel trims similar to what is shown here. Now he has power adjust, Cargo Lamps, Park Lamps, and Turn Signal.
