Hey Phil, I got a 2017 Chevy Silverado LTZ. Half-ton 1500 I just like to get a set of tow mirrors that are plug-and-play. Could I get a set from you or could you? Direct me to a website. Thanks. [email protected]

Please contact me at [email protected]

I can supply mirrors as well. Thanks!

How do you get the Upper Trim back in?  I didn't see that on the video and I cannot get it to stay.  Were there tabs on the trim?  I see spots on there where they could have been and worry that they broke off.

Caps just pop back in.

Hey Phil,

Quick question for you. I currently have the DPN Towing Mirrors on my 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT. Would there be any concern for swapping them for DL8 mirrors? Wasn't sure if the extra wiring needed for the towing mirrors would be a problem connecting with the standard DL8 mirrors. Thanks for the help!

My 2018 Sierra 2500 came with the DPN (non-power folding tow) mirrors and the dealer swapped them for DL8 (standard non-power folding) mirrors and they only changed the mirrors. The mirror connector was the same. I later went to power folding tow mirrors and all I had to change was the switch, and the mirrors of course. I can't say weather or not the 2500 and 1500 share the same harnesses, but it would seem logical.

I have a 2014 Suburban LT 1500 with DL 8 mirrors.  Would I need a new harness if I add integrated turn signals, puddle lights or power folding?  Are the existing wiring harnesses  okay for this.  There are some mirror glass only upgrades that would appear to make this easy if so.

This thread is for Silverado/Sierra Trucks.  For SUVs, please contact @cmatt as he builds custom harnesses for the SUV platform.

@pgamboa  Phil,  I finally got around to installing the mirrors and your harness.  My question is, the memory buttons are those the ones above the inside door handle? (I would have to buy this)  Also, I have a power seat but do I just need the memory buttons to use the full functionality for mirrors and seat or do I have to change this power seat as well?  I don't have the one pictured.

Integrating Seat Memory is not as easy as installing the memory buttons.  There is a TON more to it to fully integrate seat/mirror memory.

Heated/Cooled Memory Seats

Custom Programming of the Seat Memory Module (located under new memory seat)

Factory DL3 Harnesses or DQS Harnesses (if going with Tow Mirrors) for both doors

Factory A45 (Memory) Drive Door PANEL Harness

Factory A45 (Memory) Passenger Door PANEL Harness

Factory A45 Passenger Window Switch (they are different between Memory and non Memory Trucks)

Factory A45 Power Fold Switch

Once you get ALL the hardware and the custom programming of the memory module, then you have to remove the Non-Memory wiring and install Memory wiring in ALL the locations from the driver seat, to both door jamb connectors, etc. etc.

So, this is a VERY large undertaking.  I have done this 3 times to local trucks and takes me an entire day.  Unfortunately, there is no wire harness that I can build since a lot of Non-memory wiring needs to come out first.  Special tools are needed to depopulate these pins.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Phil

Are the DPN Tow Mirrors you have now have the amber running light, cargo reverse light, and turn signal in the glass?  Or the older DPN with just the turn signals in the glass?  At any rate, if you down grade to DL8 Mirrors, those don't have any lighting options, so they will work for power adjust and heat.

This would work since DL8 mirrors don't have any lighting options.  Since you had the correct harnesses to begin with for the DPN mirrors, upgrading the mirrors to DQS and adding the switch should have been PnP..without the need for swapping the harnesses.

Hi all. Just a shout out to thank Phil for doing this. For any newbies he has my 100% backing as everything he says he can do, he does. I bought his harness about a year ago but just got around to exchanging them. 2015 (newer 15) 1500 silverado LT. Went to power folding, manual extending and they work great.

Another big Thank You to Phil Gamboa !! Well worth buying the complete harness to have things go so smooth.

DL8 to DL3 swap took me about an hour and a half taking my time. All functions working as they are supposed to. The power fold will take some getting used to !

Only problems encountered were working with old eyes and progressive lenses focusing in the door jambs and getting the old harnesses stuffed in the box to ship back for the refund !!

Now I've got 3 of Phil's harnesses in my truck. First was the jump seat to console and now one in each front door for the mirror swap. Thinking about the auto dim rear view mirror since the DL3 driver's mirror a got is auto dim ready........

Thanks again Phil for sharing your knowledge and time for these upgrades !!

Phil, these do not pop in for me.  There must be something I am missing. There are little spots that looked like they had tabs.  I push it up under the window rubber and it doesn't just stay there.  What am I missing?

Ah. I thought you meant mirror caps. That trim is tricky. You have to squeeze in the middle so that it flares out and catches to side closest to the glass.

That did it Phil.  So the inside by the window goes in first and that keeps it in place with a slight twist.   After you said that poof it was done.  Thank you Phil!  I love these mirrors.

Just wanted to put this out here in case it helps anyone out.

I did the GM approved DL3 => DQS mirror upgrade today on my 2014 LTZ 1500. The RZY harness was a pain & took more time to install than both mirrors combined. At the end of the day, all mirror features still work (adjust, power fold, reverse tilt, cargo light, park lanp), except I can no longer update my mirror/seat memory profiles. The dealership I bought the mirrors from sent me a code for a BCM update, I'll have to look into that on Monday. Does anyone have more information on that? Something I can tell my local dealer besides, "this code, BCM, Mirrors, go"?

Can you provide more detail on this?  What part of the memory system is not working?  Be as specific as possible...what works, what doesn't work?  Does reverse tilt work?  Does key fob fold work?  Can you set seat/mirror positions, then recall them?

Did you swap the door harnesses as well?  If so, what part # harness did you use?

@pgamboa The only thing that doesn't work is saving new "profiles", Reverse tilt does work. Power adjust seats & mirrors still work, Power folding works (key fob & button). even pressing the "1" or "2" buttons causes the mirrors/seats to return to the saved positions. Yes I did swap out the harnesses, the right hand was P/N: RH84390965 (RH965RH) I'll have to pull the door panel to get the Left Hand P/N....Interesting development. The dealer told me they called GMs technical center & they were told there is no way update the BCM for tow mirrors on 1500 trucks...?‍♂️
