Just bought a camper this weekend and looking for few quick answers if anyone knows....

I have DL8 mirrors and want to go to DQS.  I don't care about memory function.  I just want power folding.

1. Is this possible?

2. Does it require a reflash of the BCM?

3. Is this more trouble than it's worth?

Thanks.

Hi, new member here. Been doing research on tow mirror upgrades and found this thread. I just picked up a new 2018 Silverado WT, factory tow package and from what I am reading here I have the DL8 mirrors, power & heated. I do not have a build sheet in the glove box like I have seen in this thread. What is the deal with RPO code AVF (listed on most vendors sights) and how do I know if it applies to my truck? And most of the vendors list 2014-2017 and when I search for an '18 I get squat. I called tech support at Trail Ridge (recommended by a friend) and they said they currently only make mirrors up to the '17 model year.

I don't want anything fancy,  just want a good set of mirrors with the power adjust and defrost which is what I have stock. If I have to buy mirrors with signals so be it, I will probably leave them non functional. Do you have any suggestions on what will work for me? I would prefer GM mirrors and don't want to do a rewire, just go with the functionality of the truck.

Edit; So doing more digging, older mirrors without all the bells and whistles look more like what I want will the older mirrors work on my 2018?

part numbers I am looking at;

22820397

22820398

1. Yes, absolutely.

2. Nope, no flashing, tho depending on what year/model you have you might need an upgraded wiring harness (available through this thread)

3. Definitely not more trouble than it's worth. I did this swap in a 2016 Silverado LT and am happy with the results.

The first post can be a little daunting the first time you read it, but it has everything you need. Also, pgamboa is a huge help.

When i made my videos, 2017 trucks were the latest trucks at the time.  2018 is the same as well as the carry over 2019 - LD (classic) and 2500 trucks... whatever they call them :) "carry over" trucks.  As long as they are the same body style as 14-18.

For 2018, they stopped printing the RPO codes and now have to scan a QR code...grrr...

Trail Ridge mirrors will work for 2018.

If you want to minimize costs, you can get a Trail ridge tow mirror that is just power adjust/heat.  No lighting.  It will be plug and play.  Once you introduce lighting, a harness swap or modification of your factory harnesses will be needed.  https://www.am-autoparts.com/products/side-view-mirrors/AM-1295053246.html

If you get other mirrors with lighting, it will be nonfunctional.  If you want to get GM mirrors, they will have lighting.  I can get GM Mirrors though a GM Parts Supplier.

Hope this helps.

My timing is terrible, I was editing right as you replied.

If these will work (or other part numbers that are similar) do you have a supplier for older GM stuff?

Phil what parts would I need to do the swap on my '15 with DL8? (manual-folding).  I was looking at the mirrors here: https://www.1aauto.com/mirror-pair-trail-ridge-tr00284/i/1amrp01794?f=1138958&y=2015

I figure I'll need:

The mirrors

A harness of some sort

power folding switch

Anything else?  Do you have/make the right harness?

I have a 2015 Silverado D3 with power mirrors, power fold, turn signals in mirrors, heated mirrors and  power memory seats. Just bought a 24 ft enclosed trailer and need to upgrade to trailer mirrors.. Are there any good quality mirrors out there with all the above options that is plug and play and will not require the dealer to flash my computer.. Would love to upgrade and have no problem doing it myself but don't want to get involved with the dealer BS..

                                                        Thank you

Great looking truck. I’ve got the exact same in 2017.

What mirrors did you go with?  OEM?  I’m looking at putting the A1 on mine and geting the power folding.  Any regrets on your upgrade?

When Phil says “AM Autoparts mirrors are identical to 1A Auto”, he wasn’t kidding...

Scott,

No dealer visit needed as no flashing is necessary.

With your truck being a 2015, you’ll need to explore your door jamb connector plug and inspect the cabin side of the plug.

See pic below. You want to see if you have pins 9 and 11.

Then we can go from there.

You can go with GM mirrors or mirrors from 1A Auto/AM Auto and my custom harnesses for PnP functionality.

This is the same mirror from AM Auto for about $60 less.

https://www.am-autoparts.com/products/side-view-mirrors/AM-3397687628.html

I build the custom harness for this mirror and stock the factory GM switch for $70.

But since you’re 2015, you’ll want to explore the door jamb plug connector. You’ll want to inspect the cabin side for pins 9 and 11. See pic below.

You can PM pics and info to order.

Thanks Phil, I will see if I can get into the door jam connector this weekend and see if I can get a Pic of it... What is the part number of the mirrors I will need from A-1 Auto or AM Auto taking into consideration I have all the options already so don't have to add any switches??  Thank you Scott
