I want to start by thanking pgamboa for his help with my successful upgrade from the DL8 to DL3 mirrors. I opted to modify my own harness and he was willing to answer all my questions QUICKLY and I wouldn't have been able to do it without him. I couldn't be happier with the results.

Before I started this I found an extra DL8 harness on eBay and bought it incase something went wrong with mine but thankfully it didn't so I decided to complete the modification on my extra harness and will sell it if anyone is interested.

I have one complete and tested harness (driver and passenger). If anyone is interested please PM me and let me know. Only 1 available at $150 shipped.

The videos are incredibly helpful in determining where to get power for different functions. Can anybody ID the wire colors (turn signals, cargo and marker)for those of us not using the pin method.

Again, thanks for your R&D!

CamJake, the wire colors are different for each side.

Are you looking at running wires through the door boot and to their destinations? Unless you are 2014 and early 2015, you should only need to modify your door panel harnesses. The circuits in the door hinge should be present.

I'll get you the wire color schemes in a few. I pulled the the 1700 pg electrical GMUpfitter directly from their website. :)

If you intend on running your own wires, I would recommend unwrapping your existing harness, add the missing wires, and crimp the terminals.

This will eliminate the splicing, tapping, drilling etc.

My truck is a '14. The mirrors I bought are non OEM. They have a separate small harness for markers, turn and cargo lights so I'll have to run them through the door to their spots under the dash/hood.

So thankful for the information in this thread. I'm looking to convert my 2015 Silverado LTZ with DL3 mirrors to the tow mirror DQS.

A while back there was mention of 1AAuto after-market mirrors being compatible with these custom wiring harnesses from pgamboa. After reading through this thread I didn't see further updates with that? Specifically which mirror on 1AAuto I'd be looking at. After comparing a few models I'm becoming confused with similarities and differences of their aftermarket products (unless it's only cosmetic in nature):

PART #: 1AMRP01771 PART #: 1AMRP01792 PART #: 1AMRP01786 PART #: 1AMRP01792

Curious if there are success stories on a specific mirror from them to save some $$$. Or if Id be better off going OEM. Either way I'll be needing some harnesses! Thanks.

I'll take a look at these 1A part #s. I know for sure 01786 will not be PnP as I just had these mirrors in my possession for another member.

OK - Part # 1AMRP01771 - This is a power fold mirror, however, it you look at the photos, there is a separate connector that needs to be used and hardwired. It appears that they've optioned it so that it pigtails off the main connector. It appears to be ok, but I would caution about the hardwire option. I haven't seen these first hand like I have the 1AMRP01786. In addition, this mirror doesn't appear to have mirror memory. Pins #7, #14, and #17 are missing from the connector detail. This tells me it doesn't fully support the LTZ features of mirror memory.

Part # 1AMRP01792 - This appears to be the same as 1AMRP01771 with chrome cap options. I would also caution these mirrors with their connectors. In addition, this mirror set also doesn't look like they support mirror memory.

Part # 1AMRP01786 - This set, I've actually had in my hands. Another member here purchased these, sent them to me to make them fully plug and play for his LTZ truck. This mirror set does have mirror memory and supports it. This set though, DOES have an bonus puddle lamp. This required additional modification to the mirror harness connector and door harnesses to fully support all the features, and make them plug and play.

Let me know if you have any additional questions. I do perform a service, if you decide to get aftermarket mirrors, where if you send them to me, I will make sure to get it fully pinned, tested, and plug and play by the time it gets to you. This is not advertised in the original thread as this is something new I have been asked to do by other members. Let me know if you have any additional questions and how i can help you achieve your upgrade desires.

What an awesome analysis!!!

I'm open to suggestions for any tow mirror (aftermarket or OEM) that will retain full functionality of the DL3. Looks like the 1786 model is out of stock anyway.

If you or anyone has part numbers for OEM or known PnP mirrors you've worked with I'd be all ears (or where to buy either online!!) Let me know via PM or here.

Kinda sounds like the aftermarket is a PIA.

My pleasure.

One thing to note: The DL3 Mirror has Auto Dim (Driver's Side) and Puddle Lamps. There is not a towing mirror out there that will retain those features. No towing mirror will have an Auto Dim driver's side. The 1A Auto Part # 1AMRP01786 does have a puddle lamp and this is the only known mirror that does. No OEM mirror will have a puddle lamp. Another thing to note, the trend these days (especially with the those with midnight edition trucks), is the park lamps lens are smoked and caps are black. This makes them blend well.

If you go with an OEM Power Fold Mirror, the part # are as follows:

Driver - 84041609 ~$500 on ebay

Pass - 23351796 (Gas) - ~$500 on ebay

Pass - 23351798 (Diesel)

Also, it looks like the 1A Auto Mirrors may not be manufactured directly by 1A Auto as I found almost identical looking mirrors (same picture details) on ebay from AM Auto Parts. Looks like they must source from the same place and resell them.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Any update on the color scheme for the marker lights? Got my mirrors on and partially wired, all working as they should so far...I added some clearance lights to the plastic under the F bumper so I'll tie those into the fuse box when I do the markers on the mirror.

My apologies.

Driver's Side - Park Lamp (Circuit 709) is a Violet/Grey Stripe wire

Passenger Side - Park Lamp (Circuit 309) is a Grey/Brown Stripe wire.

Driver's Side - Cargo Lamp (Circuit 1430) is a White/Violet Stripe wire

Passenger Side - Cargo Lamp is the same as the Driver

Driver's Side - Turn Signal (Circuit 1314) is a Dark Blue/White Stripe wire

Passenger Side - Turn Signal (Circuit 1315) is a Light Green/Violet Stripe wire.

That's great! Thankyou

In one of your videos you mention that it's easier to access the parking light circuit under the hood at the fuse block. You point out the pin, but it's unclear which wire/color it is. I've got some additional clearance lights to wire up so I was thinking that I'd just bring the mirror marker wires upfront too.

Thanks again!

Here is a link to the RZY Jumper Harness Installation Manual that the video you watch is in reference too. This manual shows the location of each of the mentioned circuits. Hope this helps.
