No worries guys. I don’t think they can be deleted, but wanted to offer a better way for your stuff to be seen. Many more will go to the Marketplace looking for stuff to buy than will to this post.

1A Auto and AM Auto Mirrors are the same exact mirrors when you order the equivalent part #s. If the mirror says “Memory” then it is the 01786 model. Any other part # from either 1A Auto or AM Auto with “Memory” in the description will be the same 01786 but may come with different caps (chrome versus black, chrome with temp sensor or black with temp sensor).

Phil, quick question on this point...

The AM Autoparts AM-2558332961 mirror appears to be the exact same as the 1A Auto 1786 model.

AM also offers the AM-3375422714 which is power folding and appears to be identical to the above mirror with the exception of 1. no memory function and 2. no puddle lamp.  The AM Auto 2714 also says it is "For models without factory Power Folding - Includes Power Folding Upgrade Kit"

My LT does not have any memory functions, and I might decide I could live without the puddle lamp and save 53 bucks.

Based on your experience, do you see any issue with the 2714 mirror?

I have seen and worked with both sets. You are correct in that the models between 1A and AM Auto are identical. Essentially, you have two models. With memory (and bonus puddle lamp), and without memory (without puddle lamp).

The reason the one without memory includes the “power fold kit”, is because they assume it is going into a truck that doesn’t have power fold. With memory trucks, power Fold is usually already present.

You’ll be tossing their power fold kit in the trash as you’ll use the OEM Switch to keep things OEM.

Note - that with either models, there will be some work needed on the mirror side connector. On the memory model, there will be one disconnected wire that needs to be landed. On the non memory, there are two wires (the two for the power fold) that will need to be landed.

If you get my PnP harnesses or DIY Kit, I supply provisions for this.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Phil!

On an LT truck without factory memory, is it possible to have keyfob-commanded mirror folding with either of those mirrors, your harnesses and OEM folding mirror switch?

Factory Key Fob Fold - No. not very easily anyway. I did the complete Seat Memory retrofit and added it, but that was a large undertaking.

Aftermarket Key Fob Fold - Yes. I have incorporated an aftermarket module that is heavily integrated into the driver side door harness. There is an added cost of $150 for this. It also requires a circuit that needs to be delivered to from the cabin junction box to the driver door (I provide all that is needed with instruction).

One thing I didn’t like about the aftermarket method - the module lived inside the door panel. Water does naturally get in. I had two modules fail on me. So I had to use a ziplock bag (LOL) to keep the 3rd one from getting wet.

Since retrofitting Seat memory, I have moved on from the aftermarket method. :)

I don’t have any Used Manual Fold Mirrors. I’ve got a set of take off Power Fold mirros I was planning on installing on my truck.

I can get a new manual fold set for $495 and $555 (black / chrome) shipped.

Phil,

First, thanks for the post.  Unfortunately I got information overload from the original post, then I got wore out trying to find answers on 109 pages of follow-on posts.  So, I'm sure you've answered this numerous times.

I have a 2018 Sierra SLT 1500 with the 5.3 Flex and with what appears to be the DL3 mirror option.  I want to do the DL3 to DQS conversion.  I've found the mirrors on-line with GM 84228891 and 84228892.  They're around $470 ea plus tax & shipping.

1. Do I need to purchase separate wiring harness or do these just plug and play?

2. Besides GM Parts Direct, are there other options for purchasing the power folding DQS type mirrors?

I believe you will need harnesses for the lighting features to work correctly. And I also believe Phil has a source for the DQS factory tow mirrors.@Pgamboa

No worries. I also need to find some time clean up the first post as it seems that the context got jumbled up somehow.

To answer your question....

Yes - you will need new harnesses.

For DQS Mirrors, I can get them from a supplier for $1058 shipped. That’s the out the door price. Mirrors can be either black textured caps or chrome.

Harnesses are $285 for the set. I do refund $100 if you send me your factory harnesses.

Hi....new here. I have an early 2015 2500 hd Diesel ( pre 8/14). I have black camper style mirrors with glass turn signal, power adjust top and defrost ( heat). I bought upgraded new style mirrors. No power fold and no temp sensor since pre 8/14. My question is, is the only harness I need is the rzy harness to make cargo and running lights work? My new mirrors came with puddle lights but they have a separate wire for them. Is there a way to wire into existing plug for those? I just checked my harness and I have a pin in #3 and #41. No pin in #9 or#11. I assume I can connect my puddle light to wire on #3. TIA
