Constant whine from engine

Recommended Posts

To me it sounds like the new oil pump they are using. But as long as everyone else does it I'm ok I reckon. Now back to figuring out how to get rid of this vacuum pump.

Put a hydra-vac on it. You'll need a hydraulic pump and replace the vacuum brake booster with a hydraulic booster from a 2500-3500. You'll get 40-50% more brake pressures from the same peddle effort, but more engine clutter. No free lunches.

Yeah mine does it pretty loud. I'm a bit concerned about it and the ticking noises. Sounds like lifters and I've got the stethoscope on it but I cant get anything to tick that loud in my ear. But it really sounds like it's coming from the valve covers. I couldn't pinpoint that whine either. I'm thinking bottom back end. Like I've been hearing, torque converter. Could be wrong though.

I am experiencing the same whine when I accelerate in low gears and when decelerating/coming to a stop. I've been told it's normal, failing fuel pump or failing oil pump. Sounds like everyone here says it's normal but figured I'd post it anyways in case anyone else has the same issue. Took a video but doesn't seem like the website is capable of playing it.
