2015 Front Bumper Gap

Recommended Posts

I searched for some answers but all I could find were answers for older styles. Anyone with a 14/15 have this issue with the sides of the front bumper being about 1/2" lower than the front? Crawled under the truck and hunted for adjustment brackets but couldn't find anything attached to the sides of the bumper, just the front. Is yanking the bottom air dam and using a jack to push up a valid solution?

mine does not look like that. It is pretty much straight with the painted part above the bumper.

did you hit something? if your bumper is bent, then i guess you could always try to bend it back.

Unfortunately that's how it came new, gap is the same on both sides. I thought there would be adjustment supports like older models but was mistaken.

I wonder, if these happen to be used vehicles, if perhaps the previous owner was running large negative offset wheel/tire combos that rubbed the front bumper on turns, and cut the wheel too sharp in one direction which bent the bumper or even possibly busted a tab that held it to the bumper-cover?

Not sure if you have a 14/15 or a 16/17, but knowing his is a 14 makes me wonder if that could be a possibility. If you got it new and it was like that, why wait so long to attempt addressing it? (This is under the assumption that it is a 14/15)

I bought my 2015 from a Dealer at the end of 2016. The dealership owner drove it for a couple thousand miles throughout 2016. No rubs, scrapes so odds of it being from hard use are slim to none. Again, I assumed there were adjustment brackets so never thought to hard about it but when I went to put in my new fog lights and adjust it I was mistaken when I couldn't find them. So now here I am posting in hopes someone else has ran into this and has a solution.

that's weird. I would try to go to back to your dealer and ask them if its supposed to look like that. maybe compare it to some other trucks on the lot.

since mine is pretty straight, I tend to think yours is somehow either damaged or modified. why would they send some off the line with a bumper that's bent down? (I looked real close at mine- I would say the gap in the center of the grille is maybe 1/4" less than at the far edges next to the wheels. so not perfectly parallel, but pretty close.)

But as you said, maybe someone knows how to adjust it.

I did buy mine used but as far as i can tell its been stock its whole life, but I havent crawled under it and searched for any adjustments or broken clips yet. I haven't payed too much attention to it since the High Country is color matched bumpers. Ill defiantly be looking into this this weekend.

Manufacturers do a lot of things that we scratch our heads over and this is just another example. Once you start googling things and realize it's a common thing then all you can do is shake your head. I did ask the dealer and got the typical response : "It happens, all you have to do is adjust it". And I trust a dealer about as far as I can throw them so that's where I left it. I wish mine had only a 1/4" difference but unfortunately there were at least two of us that didn't get so lucky lol.

Being that these are quite large bumpers and do not have outer support leads me to believe that they just hoped that they were all straight and had a certain acceptable tolerance for gaps expecially given the added material that you can see in my pic. IF there are supports or adjustments and I just cant find them then I will gladly eat my words but from what I can see the only way to fix it is by manipulating the shape with force.

I do have the 2WT so the only black plastic I have (relating to the front bumper) is the upper bumper cover that splits the grill and headlights from the bumper. My bumper is chrome and I have noticed a very slight difference at the sides between the bumper cover and the chrome bumper when walking up to it. I haven't really measured or anything, but I don't believe it's as "extreme" as drentlaw1's bumper seems to be.

my 2014 LTZ Z71 fit like crap like that too. I did have chrome tow hooks that were installed by the dealer and was told that is why it was so far off. sorry to say, I never did fix before I traded it on my 2016.

I would take my truck back to the dealer and get this issue repaired. This is not a proper fit.
