How to Remove Stock Exhaust w/ No Cutting and No Lift

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the tips. I plan on doing this next weekend to install my Corsa! I'll update my post with results, really would like to keep the stock exhaust intact.

Just an update, got my stock exhaust removed, new corsa installed and rear shocks changed in under 2 hours by myself with common hand tools, a jack and some stands.

I think I was about an hour and a half w/o changing shocks. Sounds about right. What shocks did you put on? How does the new exhaust sound ?

Thanks again for this post, Corsa install directions call for cutting the stock exhaust. I would have just done as they called for, Not sure why, really not hard to get off intact.

For anyone else that's going to do this BUY the hanger removal tool. Seriously worth it. I've fought with hangers in the past,...took me no time with the tool. Great addition to my box.

Bilstein 5100 shocks, so much better than the Z71 Ranchos. Can't wait to do the fronts. The ranchos were crap from day one, mile one.

The exhaust sounds great, cold start is a little obnoxious which I'm sure my neighbors will love every morning. I see my Mpg dropping drastically because skinny pedal makes music now haha

Any specific brand of hanger removal tool or any of them will work for this application?

Thanks

Pretty sure any would do. I purchased the Lisle 38350 off Amazon, little tight on the forward most hanger and the frame rail but it worked perfect. I'm sure there are others but I like to stick with items made in the USA, Lisle makes great affordable DIY specialty tools.

I tried to find a hanger tool locally when I went to do mine but no one had one. I didn't want to order one and wait a couple days so I sprayed them with WD40 as mentioned and had no problems removing them.

Just did mine today crew Denali 5.3 stock exhaust was super easy to get off by myself. Remove spare, block front tires, jack truck from the reciever hitch and you got enough room to put a small school bus between axle and bottom of bed. Once everything is unhooked slide entire exhaust back just far enough to clear tranny mount and when it drops on ground go to rear and just push towards front of truck and lift over axle lol. Installed GM performance exhaust that's made by corsa. 3 inch all the way. No drone slightly louder than stock and will not piss the wife off. I wish it was a bit louder actually but the truck does seem a little more peppy. This is the one except mine says GMC on the tip. Fit and finish was great.

Is the GM Corsa equivalent to the Corsa Sport or Corsa Touring if you purchased directly from Corsa? Do you have any good clips of sound, or what it is like under acceleration or cruising in V4? Curious why did you go GM Corsa vs. the Borla GM system with the flapper valve?

This is GM Corsa that is equivalent to the touring model. Pretty much same system except the tip. Cruising stock quiet slight more rumble. I have the diablosport so v4 is turned off. The reason I went with it was it was the only more I found that said 10hp. Not that it's all that noticeable but it does feel alittle.better but main thing was didn't want to lose any either. I have a start up sound clip but can't load I will keep trying.
