Towing Speed With A Uhaul 5' x 8' Cargo Trailer

Recommended Posts

Given all the stuff I have seen out on the highway in 45 years and over 5 million miles behind me, I wouldn't pull a rented trailer over 65 for any money in the world. While tire pressures may be fine, and load within reason, the quality of the tire still comes into play. You can be sure that U-Haul is not using the absolute top of the line trailer tire. And you have no reasonable way to know how the trailer was used prior to you getting it. Caution and common sense are the name of the game.

I've put a lot of cross country trips in and uhaul trailers are typically the second most common trailer to see flipped on their side...the first being RV trailers.

I pulled a packed to the hilt 6x12 from Ft Worth to Pensacola last December at the speed limit the entire trip, no issues and the truck handled it well as it should have. There was no excess heat from the tires and everything went well. You should have 0 issues but always be cautious when hauling/towing.
