Silverado Steve
Most insurance companies won't total a newer vehicle unless the loss value exceeds 50% of the vehicle value. If it really bothers you, maybe instead of having the other insurance company pay the body shop, they cut you a check and you get a salvage value of your truck, take that money and get something new. Like everyone else said, even if you get your truck fixed flawlessly, it's value has tanked. Either way you're out money long term.
dave07
Just be pushy about the diminished value claim. They hit you and caused you a loss. You need to be made whole. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nathan79
Generally you file diminished value not on your insurance but on the other guys insurance. Your insurance has no obligation for diminished value. Whether you can do diminished value is also state specific.
2018GMC
Hmm, before you're so quick to judge and tell him where to park, let me know how you think parking in my driveway turned out? In regards to the OP's issue, new frame will be perfectly fine. I'd rather that over having the body shop try to straighten the old one out. Holy $£\+! Guessing the Tahoe was totaled. That sucks :-(
TheGovernment
We replace frames at our shop on a monthly basis. Right now we have a 2015 canyon getting swapped. It's not really that crazy of a job. The tech gets paid a lot but it's only about 2 days of work.
No Tyme
Be sure to ask for diminished value. Carfax and others will have a record of MAJOR damage. When its time to trade, bend over.....Vaseline not included. I absolutely agree with the above info!
FlyGuy
Replace Frame?... about like coming down the assembly line all over again, without the order and precision in which things come on. I'd hope to think it could be done but my gut says it would rattle and squeak more than a stone thrasher. All kinds of rubber parts to aid in noise dampening, wire looms, dashboard rattles.... chassis parts, engine, tranny, brakes, entire front end + more. Hum--. seems overwhelming..... redwngr
Replacing the frame is MUCH easier than it is being made out to be.
Adamrg
If you're really worried about the quality of work being performed, Take the check and throw a frame under there yourself. Problem solved. Probably buy a good amount of goodies too with the amount of $$ saved not having to pay their labor rate.

beerguy214
Had my 2014 Silverado rear ended twice and both times a lot more damage than is what on the back of yours and they straightened the frame both times. The first time it pushed the bed of my truck into the back of the cab and there was never a mention of replacing the frame so I would think this body shop might be trying to make some extra money here.I would rather have the frame straightened then everything switched to a new frame.i mean you are talking about messing with almost every system on that truck to switch everything out. Interesting argument regarding frame repair vs frame replacement! The success of both options are dependent on the skill of the individuals making the repair. Assuming all work is done by skilled and competent technicians, I would rather buy a used vehicle with a replaced rather than straightened frame.
dvexpert
So after two days of battling back and forth with the insurance adjuster they still won't total it out. It's getting a new frame unless I want to get an attorney. And that's not me. My local dealership is medium sized and said to let the body shop do the work. They contract it out to a company that specializes in it. Two or three guys do it in one day. $3k for the frame and $2k in labor. $7k for all the rest of the body work. All OEM Parts. I insisted. He really didn't care about "diminished value". Has anybody else ever been successful with a diminished value claim? I'm sure it will now be on carfax. And most people don't want to buy a vehicle that had frame damage. This whole situation sure doesn't seem fair considering I wasn't even in my truck when it was hit. Just curious, what state are you in? Frame replacement comes with big issues in Texas( I am a licensed adjuster here)

What are chances of it getting accepted? It was 100% the other drivers fault with police report to back it up. It just happened this Saturday waiting on Monday to meet/speak to adjuster. Todays Sunday
Dnt
My experience is that YOU want to be in control of what shop prices the work and DOES the work. If you want a properly repaired truck YOU need to take charge and find the people that will do the work to actually make the vehicle back to NEW condition. Most Auto insurance companies will try to steer you to the cheapest shop as it is in their best interest to have bubba in the back room hammer it and add a bit of bondo and paint. It is a bit of work for you to do but do not trust your insurance company to have your best interest at heart in this situation. You will have to be firm at times, do not let them walk on you like a welcome mat.
