Thanks again BigWhiskey! I did the 1" crank for the torsion bars in the front two weeks ago. Noticed no difference in ride. I had been tracking down a popping/clunk noise in the front and finally found it to be the driver's side upper control arm bushing. So Sunday I put on new Cognito upper control arms. Well apparently I had more noises than I new up there! The ride is so much quieter and softer up front. Very noticeable on speed bumps! Very happy I did the new arms for sure!

 

I got the new tires on today and man are they quiet for being so aggressive looking! I went with 285/75R17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. No rubbing anywhere and I doubt I will get any off road with the 1" cranked up front. Granted they are new, but seriously these things are almost silent.

 

So happy with the look, feel like I got a new truck!!@ thanks for all the info and PM's from you!!

They look amazing! Like others have said before me, these are the perfect size for our trucks!

 

A little bad news and bump in the road though, I have a lot of shaking going on in the rear end now. I pulled the road force numbers from the shop I use. 16, 30, 32, and 36lbs of road force in the tires. The higher of the two are in the back right now. The shop is great, and they use the Hunter GSP9700 and calibrate often. I know my wheels are round, so it's the tires for sure.

 

Now for the good news! I called Nitto and spoke with Jose, he was great! After inquiring as to what truck, wheels and tires I have, he said they are going to replace the 3 tires with high road force for me! Said they should be down near or below 20. Called the shop and they are calling in to give the info Nitto requires and make this change for me.

 

I know we often only get to read about the bad customer service from companies out there, but we need to make sure we hear some of the good as well! Nitto stepped up, and it's much appreciated!!!

 

Looking forward to getting the replacement tires soon and riding smooth and looking good!!!

 

I will try and get you pictures by this weekend!

Love your posts, hopefully you are still on here and can reply because I just bought a 15 2500HD and I have a few questions for you.  Unfortunately I don't have all the money in the world and I really wanted a 2500HD (I've converted from a 13 F150 crew) so I could only afford to find one, with the miles etc. I wanted, in a double cab.  I sure do miss the space in the back but hey I don't have to worry about the passengers haha!

@Big Whiskey I agree can you post some pictures of this? I am wanting to do the same thing. what did you attach the bolts to? maybe you said it and I missed it

Sorry guys, this is the best I've got. It's kind of hard to see. There's actually a little bracket behind those gray plastic pieces. It was super easy to bolt to.

I didn’t like the look of the factory exhaust tail pipe exit, so I had the local exhaust shop cut it off right after it dumps over the rear axle. Added a black 3.5” in, 5” out tip to clean things up. I think it made the tone a little deeper too.

Haven’t changed anything on my truck for a while...until this week. I was starting to get bored with things, so I decided to change up my tire/wheel setup. I bought a set of 18” factory wheels from a Midnight Edition a few months ago, but had a terrible time deciding what tires to buy. I wanted to run a 35” tire, but there aren’t a lot of options for the 18” rims. 

 

I had it narrowed down to the General Grabber ATX or Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT in 35x12.50x18. Then, tire prices started going up, and many of them became hard to find. When pursuing other options, I discovered the 325/65/18 size. That’s when I stumbled onto a deal on a set of Sumitomo Encounter AT in 325/65/18 from my local Falken dealer. 

 

For those that don’t know, Falken tires are made by Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. The Sumitomo Encounter AT has a lot of similarities to the Falken Wildpeak AT3W, which I ran previously and was very pleased with. The Encounter AT is a fairly aggressive all-terrain, with a 60,000 mile warranty and the 3PMS rating. The tread depth in my size is 20/32, which is about the deepest you’ll find in an all-terrain. The 325/65/18 has an overall diameter of 34.7” and a section width of 13.3”. They look huge compared to my old 285/75/17’s. 

 

Much to my surprise (and delight), the 325/65/18’s fit without any additional modifications. They’re really tight, but they clear. I’ll probably pull back my fender liners with zip ties, just for extra peace of mind. They look like they belong on the truck, and I’m very happy with them. These trucks have a very blocky/wide body style, and a bigger tire really helps fill the wheel wells and complete the look.
