Big Block pictures

Recommended Posts

Well, after all the excitement with the cylinder head problem and all I finally got the final touches to my new big block done (for now) ……I had the A/C lines custom built yesterday to allow the late model A/C compressor to be used in an older truck. Then today, I charged up the A/C system with R134A. Boy, is it cooold in this old rig now.

Insert red X here

What year 454 is it? and is it modified at all?

It is a new GMPP crate Gen VI 454HO set up with all the accessories from a 1996 to 2000 L29 454 like the engine in my avatar. No modifications to it right now…in fact I even used the stock L29 exhaust manifolds for reliability reasons. (I get tired of fixing header leaks in my 68’)

Minus the fuel-injected intake, the only way to identify this my 454HO from a late model L29 block is the GMPP blocks have a manual fuel pump boss on the passenger’s side of the engine to satisfy the carburetor guys whereas the L29 does not. I will be adding fuel injection to it later this year. You can’t beat fuel injection for off-roading and driving in the high altitudes plus it is just plain cool to see a late model fuel injected engine in 25 year old vehicle.

Baadd Asssss motor

That truck has to be fun to drive. let's burn some rubber.

It is fun to drive. I can’t wait to take it up to the hills this winter to see how it plow through the 6 ft snow drifts now. I am pretty excited to get the GM marine fuel injection set up on it this fall as well…if the budget works my way. (I am married…need I say more)

I swear this thing has more gonads than my 8.1 in my HD but of course this K10 weights less too.
