Bed Extender

Recommended Posts

So, did you check out the undercover swing case? it fits under the tonneau cover and you can still access it without moving your cover. you can get one for each side. your response makes me think you didn't look at it.

Thanks for the suggestion I have seen those before and they won't work for what I need. I am a big hunter so I am always placing boots, coolers, packs and all sorts of other items back there. After looking at all the options I am thinking the ratchet bar will be the best and cheapest option, may see if I can get the install instructions for the ford one and see if I can make a clean retro fit for it.

If you do end up getting one of the ford ones make sure to document the whole thing. I would be somewhat interested in seeing if it works nicely, as I'm sure others would also be interested.

On a side note, I can see that the folding ford extender will extend the bed, but will it also connect on the inside of the bed giving you a little "luggage" area? Most extender flip to accomplish this, but I didn't see how the ford one would flip. Or if it were even necessary to flip. To be honest I didn't look all that closely at the ford one...

The ford one he showed does flip over. You can see the bumpers on the "top" of it when its resting on the tailgate.

So I have a buddy that has a Ford Raptor and one of the many cool things that truck has is the OEM bed extender. Pretty cool how it folds right up to save on space and get out of the way. My plan is not really to use it to extend the bed but rather keep things from sliding up to the front bulkhead. So does anyone know if it can be retrofitted for GM or is there an aftermarket one similar to it?

Amp research makes one that's kinda similar...It's a flippable bed extender anyways.

This looks like it may be something that you may like better.

Google... Versa gate bed extender

Not a bad option just wish it was more compact when not in use. Thanks

If you don't use it to haul like a truck then why buy one? Just so you can say you have one? It's still a truck no matter how much it cost. I guess you just want to look cooler with a bed extender when salt treated lumber (used on porches and decks so won't rot), ratchet straps or a ratcheting bar that can be used to extend side to side will do the job perfect and not cost as much. But hey, it's your truck so do what you want. It's not always about spending the most money you can to look cool.

Wow I didn't realize the fact that I wanted to use an innovative product would offend you so much. Guess I better start hauling dirt and rocks on the side to make it a real truck.

Not much offends me, just makes more sense to me to what I said. I don't know about you, but I have a truck to use as a truck, not as a "fashion statement" just to say I have a truck. You better make sure not to scratch the inside of that bed, it might lower the value. It's really no different than buying a diesel just so you can say you have a diesel and you don't intend to even use it to tow which is what it's meant to do. Again do what you want, but you just seem like you only bought a truck so you can say you have one and will only haul groceries with it. I guess it's one of those things I can't understand. People care too much these days on how they look to total strangers.

I don't know about you,

That sounds about right.

If OP is anything like me it doesn't make sense to purchase 2 vehicles, one for truck stuff and one for non-truck stuff. The truck is a daily driver. It's necessary for it to be a truck for the however many times that is. But in between truck uses, it's still being driven.

Are you crazy? It takes way more than 2 vehicles to get through the day.
