Bed Extender

Recommended Posts

So I have a buddy that has a Ford Raptor and one of the many cool things that truck has is the OEM bed extender. Pretty cool how it folds right up to save on space and get out of the way. My plan is not really to use it to extend the bed but rather keep things from sliding up to the front bulkhead. So does anyone know if it can be retrofitted for GM or is there an aftermarket one similar to it?

There's also things known as 2x4's that fit into purpose built slots in the bed of our trucks to stop things from sliding. Granted a bed extender might look cooler and what not but if you can't find one at least you have a practical option!

yes piece of lumber will work fine but this is not a work truck and I have a hard time using a piece of wood after I have dropped $50,000 in the truck and all the accessories.

I don't think this is quite what you're looking for, as it doesn't flip into the bed, but it does fold up.

Yea I have seen that one but I think it would be a pain giving you have to actually mount it to the tailgate. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Maybe if you cant reach the junk in your bed and its too pretty to put a 2x4 in it, you should check out the new Envoys. That may suit your vehicle needs better.

just joking. I couldn't resist.

they sell all kinds of fancy storage solutions for truck beds that secure your stuff too. the best place to keep stuff is up tight to the cab or in a tool box. I have an undercover swingcase, and I love it. http://www.undercoverinfo.com/products/swingcase

It really comes down to what you are storing back there and how often you use it. I would get a toolbox over a bed extender for permanent storage. and the 2x4 works great for temporary use. just my 2 cents.

I knew I would catch hell for this post so no worries...

My truck came with a the GM Rev Up tonneau cover which is basically the BAK Revolver X2 so I don't really have the option of a toolbox unless I take that off, which brings me back to using a bed extender.

So, did you check out the undercover swing case? it fits under the tonneau cover and you can still access it without moving your cover. you can get one for each side. your response makes me think you didn't look at it.

Those F-150's have some pretty cool features I've noticed. The step to get into the bed is certainly handy. I thought the Ridgeline had a cool bed too with their trunk-type storage area built in and the swing open tailgate ability. I'd say your best bet would be to get the ratcheting cargo bar. They work awesome!
